Use the "adhesion spray" Aaron mentioned in the beginning of the video. It's not spray glue to make the wrap sticky, it acts as a lubricant that temporarily makes the underside slippery until squeegeed. Try it and I guarantee you'll be surprised at the ease and outcome.

I have wrapped an RC model aircraft before with vinyl and found the best way to apply it was by using soapy water in a squeezy spray bottle and spraying it over the surface I laid the vinyl on. The soapy water allows you to move the vinyl around and when you use the scraper it squeezes all the water out and then when it dries the glue sticks to the surface. It makes it so much easier to work with plus using heat and stretching it around corners and curves is much better than trying to squeeze it around because it helps stop the creasing.

I have done a lot of vehicle lettering during my years at the sign shop. I have done partial wraps and dealt with difficult body lines. I have never done a full wrap before. Watching somebody who is good at what they do always make something look easy. The only way to truely be good at it is practice.

I would think it might be easier to wrap the mirrors after they are mounted to the car, but I don't have any experience with this...Just figure it eliminates the need to use a hand to hold the mirror...

We use to use soap and water in a spray bottle in the body shop it helps with the air bubbles and curves dawn dish washing liquid or othered brands just a few drops in the water spray bottle then squeegee

On a large surface start in the middle and work toward the edges sealing it down as you go and working the air out from under it so bubbles don't get trapped.

A few things I noticed from watching people wrap cars is that they sometimes use a spray solution to lay it down and rubber or plastic body work tools to help smooth it out but i am NOT an expert and really enjoy watching you guys learn new things. It's motivational for sure.

Your struggle is genuine and I would bet 99% of your audience is pulling for you and finds enjoyment in your leaning process. I can relate to what you are guys are trying to do and could see myself going through the same pains as I try to wrap my car. This is what makes your video efforts worth watch. I am not a bog fan of green, but I really like that deep forest green metallic that came on1970 El Camino SS cars...in fact I am looking for one, LOL this green looks a lot like that under the lights in the shop. I wonder if you could use the heat gun and try to heat the glue in the "worm zones" and get it to lay out flat again? Just a thought. The talk you had midway in the video with us and each other was great! Knowing when you need a break and need to regroup, and get your head sorted out is a HUGE advantage...I am 65 and still struggle with that...plow through only to do it all again. You are exactly right with setting the mission goals and objectives...and you will succeed.

Vehicle wrapping is definitely a challenge. Worked at a sign shop for 3 yrs. Did quite a few wraps. Working with one of the 3m installers was a big help. He taught me lots of tricks. Y'all have fun with it.

That really is the problem with finishes - you want them to be perfect. When you're doing the work you're so close to it you see every tiny flaw. Sitting in the parking lot no one else will see it. Your learning curve is awesome - night and day from the first to second attempt. Great job!

Like someone else said, my first thought after watching you guys start on the hood was to use some Dawn and water in a good spray bottle. That's how I always do large vinyl decals and have always had good results. Can't wait to see the next video. That Corvett is going to look awesome! Remember this, it's like painting a room in your house. You'll see all the imperfections, but if someone else tries to find them you usually have to point them out for the person to see them. Your Corvett will probably be the same way!

When I was a youngster back in the early 70s I did a lot of wood grain inserts . Back then we used soapy water, laid the wrap over the soapy water and started squeegee it The soapy water allowed you to move the overlay into position and didn’t have to worry about it sticking down on the surface

Usually when professionals wrap a car they are in a climate controlled dust free booth much like a paint booth. With micron filters and the whole set up. Y'all are in a garage and doin it just how we would. I think that's awesome because we will run into the same headaches. Don't give up y'all are doin great! We can't be perfect at everything. I really like the color and Emily must have immense patience to work the hood down that way. I've only done vinyl stripes, but a healthy amount of water with a dash of soap was key. It let the vinyl float and slide until you squeegee it. Sounds like there are other products for that, and maybe not all vinyl can be done that way, but I think it would make a huge difference.

I body worked them first to got rid of all the little dents, dings, and chips. Anything you would see in a final paint, you will see in wrap. Make sure you wash the car really good, air dry, I also blew out all the crevasses that would hold water, and parked it inside for a couple of days. Also, I used a lot of tack cloth, tacked each panel to get rid of all the fine dust, may not hurt to get a static gun and use it on the whole car. Since you have long hair, I would put it in a ponytail where its not so apt to lose hair while you work. This was an issue for my first attempt, got a couple of beard hairs under the wrap. Dont touch the wrap adhesive anywhere its going to touch a panel, I think thats a lot of the problems you had with the hood. Not a pro, only wrapped a couple of cars, but thats what I did for prep and they turned out pretty good.

I used the solvent that they use to regroup golf clubs. It created as has been stated here multiple times a lubricant that allows you to move at will. Solvent should be sprayed on the metal. Once you heat and stretch and apply force, the solvent dries and it’s left with a beautiful finish. We had three people, 2 to spread and one to finish. A little at a time! Good luck!

Nothing but respect for you both. My wife and I did some wrapping on my previous race car. We did it but never again! One thing I would say is the quality of the vinyl makes a big difference. We switched to a premium air-release wrap after failing with the cheaper stuff we started with. It was night and day easier to get smooth but we still struggled with stretching around compound curves. I can't say I've ever seem vinyl with film on both sides like you have there.

a swivel vice to hold and turn parts -as you wrap with 2 hands is easer.and use foam cut to shape to clamp odd shaped pieces as vise jaws.also use kitchen cling wrap, as a pattern cut to use on the real wrap.also take panels off where possible.

Had that same color on my 94 Bonneville SSEi, and inside it was just another green gm car. But once you got it out in the sunlight oh wow the compliments we got.
