Finland has been my home for 10 years. And I must say to everyone, it is a must to see during Christmas because of the lights, the Christmas market, and all the traditions. It is expensive but if you are a foreigner and plan out your trip you can easily have a good time for a good price!!!!

yeah, in Finland traditionally we put sultans, nuts and almondslices (and vodka) in mulled wine but its not mandatory.

It¨s just like cream/milk & sugar . some want them in their coffee, some don't. Sometimes I take the sultanas & almond flakes, sometimes I want glögi on its own. It's so rich in Christmas spices. It's like hot spiced juice. Somebody called it mulled wine - don't know if that's the word - glögi doesn't have alcohol, but you can add a trickle of your favourite liquor there. Taste it first to know what fits, but the taste is not that far from spiced sweet, mild red wine.

Aw cute. Their socks are the best. I just worked out that you arrived just days before my daughter and I did. As a first generation Aussie with Finnish parents, it was my first visit in the winter and have to say while so beautiful, I was a little saddened that there was no snow in Helsinki that week of Christmas. Funny to watch you drink Glögi where we sat only days later, and eat delicious salmon soup as we did. Fortunately we did make it to the big Christmas markets the day before spending a traditional Christmas Eve with family. Your vlog made me smile. Then, as you did, we headed north for a week of wonderful snow covered Lapland.

@@rstelford3532 All depends how long are you staying? For one day- definitely old town, seaplane harbour and telliskivi. But if you are more than one day then I would reccomend also to go to Viru raba (viru bog) and Jägala juga (Jägala waterfall).

6:52 Those raisins (sultans you said) and almonds are for glögi. You put them IN your mug and spoon them to your mouth after you have finished the glögi.

The raisins and the peeled almond are supposed to be mixed with your mulled wine. That is the way to drink it in Sweden. Finland is very special... Great video, safe and fun travels
