I like most of your products, and appreciate that I can usually skip the research and trust FM to sell a top notch product in every category. This one I just don't understand.. standard batteries with a 3-5 year lifespan cost $150-300 - they often last 2-3 times that and work in just about every weather condition in the USA. How is a $700 replacement that you have to take indoors when it's chilly out make any sense? I live in California and still see 2-3 months of near freezing temperatures... maybe you could advertise it as an additional safety feature for drivers who can't handle cold/wet roads?
@FlyinMiataVideo2 жыл бұрын
Just like every mod or upgrade, there will be caveats to consider, and we completely understand that this battery is obviously not for everyone. Batteries, like tires, are consumables with limitations on their performance due to environment. As with any aftermarket part, practical usage must be considered to get the most of out the product, and we think the efficiency, overall cost of ownership, modern technology, dramatic weight-loss, and safety of the re-start function make this a good choice for anyone looking for an update from the traditional lead acid battery.

I’ve never had a car battery made in the last 2 decades last 5 years, let alone 9-10 years as you suggest. Both will end up in the ocean😂, but the lithium will last longer and has the benefit of deep cycling.

this is a good idea for a battery. but the only hiccup i see is with the CCA. so basically this battery may not be favorable for ppl living in the cold climate region. also what about the charging system. i heard that they are not compatible to the alternator in cars. i read somewhere on the net that it is not to be charged with alternators putting out more than 13.5 V. so what kinda alternator will i need to put in my car?
@FlyinMiataVideo2 жыл бұрын
These work fine with alternators. Most lead acid chargers go through an anti-sulfate process to clean off the plates in the battery. LiFePO4 batteries (like what we sell) literally can't sulfate, so it's not necessary. Plus, it can damage the battery. Your alternator doesn't have this process, it just puts voltage into the battery. The specific charging profile is better suited to the battery chemistry as well.
@snivesz323 ай бұрын
Will they destroy your alternator? I have read that when the BMS disconnects the load on a full lifepo4 battery the alternator output skyrockets to 100V or more in a millisecond and blows the rectifying diodes

For the Miata, as long as you have an alternator in good working condition, the battery will receive the charge that's required for a lithium battery. If your alternator is failing, the BMS will protect the battery if an overcurrent situation occurs.

So is there a way to keep the battery operating in cold weather? I mean is there a thermal heating coil to keep it operating in cold weather. Kind of like a heating coil that some automotive use to warm up the engine in cold climate? If not, will there be one available in the future? It's kind pricey for one giving that it's not suitable in cold climate. I would love to purchase one, but I am just worry that it will failed in cold climate. I live in california and the weather changes. I park my vehicle outside so if winter comes. I don't want to deal with a dead battery that won't start if it's too cold outside in the morning.

@mrvang8077 If you live in a climate that gets truly cold in the winter, these batteries are probably not for you.
