I may be a bit paranoid, but I'd really recommend using a plastic scraper instead of a metal one. Metal might scratch the housing and cause it to be more prone to leaking. Also, for us without a lift, just drain the coolant completely and save to refill instead of taking off the plastic shield.

Think it would be helpful to see a installation video for the strut brace firewall bracket on a ND Sport. I really want to install a strut brace on my 2016 ND Sport but haven't found any info on the bracket needed at the firewall. Thanks .

Do each of you have a different preferred gasket compound? I also love Permatex No 3 on literally every gasket except head and exhaust. All the genuine gaskets are like "no sealant required" which always makes me nervous.

We like to use Permatex "Right Stuff".

I don't use any sealant. The OEM Mazda thermostat gasket is like $4-5 and it goes on dry. The OEM metal water pump gaskets are cheap too and don't make a mess.

Can I put a 1.6 mx5 thermostat in a 1.6 eunos

Very likely, but we've never had our hands on a Eunos to verify.
