FLYMO L47 TWO STROKE LAWNMOWER NON RUNNER,LETS GET UP UP AND RUNNING AGAIN

Hi and welcome to Micks Mowers.
in this video you will see me trying to get a Flymow L47 up and running.
It came to me as a non runner but lets see if I can get it going again.
this mower runs in 25 to 1 mix and is need if some TLC.
I must say im not a fan of two stroke but as always willing to give anything a go,so lets get down and dirty and get it running.

Many thanks for this Mick - I picked up this exact model at an auction and whilst (to my surprise!), it did run, it was slow and rough. It sat in the shed for a few months whilst I gathered the strength to work on it (I do a lot of DIY, but don't have much confidence in motors). I was delighted to find your video as it showed exactly what I needed to know. The machine is now purring like a kitten and cutting the grass on a really steep lawn is a breeze!! Many thanks!!

I had one from new in 1985. It did a great job until it started playing up 20 years later. I stripped the carb more times than i can recall but the improvement never lasted. If you can get one to run on full song they dont half spin. Nice video well done for persevering with it.

Gr8 vid did what you had done and my flymo is now running gr8 the difference between my one and yours is i only have a switch for choke on and off so thanks for sharing your gr8 work

Picked one up for 20 quid as a non runner. Couple of hours stripping down and cleaning and now fantastic bit of kit

Interesting video Mick - suggestion to avoid the fiddly bits with the gaskets - thin smear of automotve grease on both sides will hold them in place while mucking about with the bolts etc.

Hi mick make sure the nut on top of petrol cap is open when running it lets air in to tank allso may need mix scew adjusting thanks for your vidios allan

Yeah the vent is open I believe it's the main jet that is blocked it needs to come out

Hi good fix, you were lucky with this one as a lot of these people have put neat petrol in that causes piston damage. You were right it isn’t running 100% it sounds a little choked, lately I’ve had a nightmare with cheap carbs they either don’t work correctly or leak. So most of the time now I put the original through the ultra sonic cleaner. I think with the cheap carbs it seems to be luck of the draw to whether you get a good one. I’ve been having a lot of problems with carbs on my etesia 13hp ride on Honda engine I’m on my 4th🤔 first 3 leaked, I now have a carb that doesn’t leak but it cuts out at higher revs. There will be a vid up on that I think I know the problem so we will have to see if I’m right. Anyway good videos🙂👍

Micks Mowers Yes also then you can get that little tube out as well, as it’s impossible to clean them small holes outs without getting it out. Good luck👍

Fascinating video! Although I bet the wife loved you for cutting the grass with a flymo while the washing was hung out! I know mine did. So sadly, the wife had to go.

Good job Mick but confirm the petrol/oil mix. I have had a couple of these flymo two strokes. They were an older version but ran on a 25:1 mix. Maybe newer version is a bit easier on the oil.

@@themowerman I think the oil has improved so much since the mower was made you only need half the amount of a good oil like Stihl 2 stroke oil

Hi Mick, thanks very much for the video. I have an identical mower and your video helped a lot. My governor arm is loose on its mounting. I’v taken the part out of the carb and the arm wobbles in the brass pole. Do you have any advice on how to “tighten” it up?

Yeah I have seen this before.. wear and tear unfortunately.. not alot can be done..

i have the same one at home he turns on but after a while he stopt running when the motor gets too hot. We had taken it to a repair shop but we need new parts (carborator) but they aren't available anymore. so we are looking for a cheap new one :D

I have the same hover mower. Would it be possible to change the engine to a Honda? I saw one of your other videos but it was an atco.

Yeah it's possible.. all depends on the crankshaft..

good one yes two stroke can be a pain but just persevere and you get there try an easy out on the jet fit new jrt or as you said a copy carb
