Fantastic vid, really makes a potentially daunting task very straight forward. In the vid you mention briefly that it is possible to replace one of the switches on the grip with a variable resistor... Any details? I'm looking to use it for variable moa motor mixing 'on the fly'. What size/type of POT would be appropriate? Thanks :)
@RCMojoTV3 жыл бұрын
If I remember rightly there's a document on the git with the firmware that describes how to set it up. Most likely it'll be a 10k pot with the ends of the track connected to 5v and ground, then the wiper to one of the wires going to the button

And what hack firmware update is this? Is it Firmware 0.6.1 update? I want to primarily update my GT3C because i can get more steering trim like upto 100 on both right and left sides, the stock one is too less, it only has 30. Does this update you did increase the steering trim amount to 100 for both right and left sides??

but i quick question. Have you tested if you can with this controller switch back and forth with 2 rigs without the need of powering down 1 of the rigs)? My friend as a DX5 and it can do it. Also those extra switches can be used for lights and so on? Great video !!
@RCMojoTV5 жыл бұрын
Spectrum has what I think they call model match, so when you bind the specific model memory is bound to the receiver. FlySky and most other cheaper radios just bind the transmitter to the receiver so you'll need to make sure you've only got one model powered at a time. With the PSX firmware you can use all the buttons to control up to 8 channels, you can get all sort of light and sound modules you can connect up
@RCSteve5 жыл бұрын
Might be an idea to reverse the direction of the encoder, so the cursor on the lcd screen moves the same way as the wheel.

I'm considering the firmware upgrade, not just to fix bugs and get more from it, but to improve latency. Does this happen with the modified firmware? Will latency improve? Honestly it feels pretty laggy, high input latency when driving around. Changing to a faster servo and a better RX didnt help much.
@RCMojoTV4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't have thought so, if anything it could be marginally slower dealing with 8 channels. I tend to use the radios with larger wheel trucks and old Tamiya's with their typical sloppy steering so it's never really cropped up

Hi, id really appreciate if you can reply and help; ive just followed your video and updated it to PreRelease 0.6.2.S19 as shown in the video, i updated it primarily to get more trim on steering, but my diatone Q33 rc car still doesnt go straight as the steering trim still is not enough to make wheels go straight in centre, The trim level have increased to 99 on both right/left with this firmware but it still makes no difference when calibrating to even fully to 99 on either side; the wheels just moves very little and just acts like the normal stock which had 30 trim level. Is there something can be done to make steering trim work properly or is it possible to make the car wheels into centre position?? (When i bind the car it binds with the wheels turned to one side and with the trim i try to move wheels into the centre and its not enough trim to make wheels to centre).Thanks in advance
@RCMojoTV2 жыл бұрын
That sounds more like an issue with the car. It could be a mechanical problem where the steering is offset from whatever is giving position feedback to the electronics. I'm not familiar with those little cars so I'm not sure how to fix the problem
@UmarRCz2 жыл бұрын
@@RCMojoTV yes its because how the car steering is setted. Luckily was able to solve the issue by taking out the steering mechanism and recentering it in the middle, that way not much steering trim is required from the controller to straighten the wheels.

Ive been looking for a pistol grip radio for my RC trucks. How do you operate the additional channels after this firmware update?
@RCMojoTV4 жыл бұрын
All the buttons become assignable, so for example you can change the steering trim buttons so they control a channel or other function. The user interface isn't great and to get started you really have to study the manual for the firmware, but one you get the hang of it it's a good flexible setup
@nrs914 жыл бұрын
@@RCMojoTV ah ok thanks! Is there a way to add dedicated switches to the circuit board?
@RCMojoTV4 жыл бұрын
Not dedicated, you would have to wire in parallel with the existing buttons. The other options would be a modified GT3C that has a hardware addon to add the extra channels. You get some knobs and switches to play with but it uses the standard firmware so isn't as flexible. They were available for around £50-£75, it seems they're not so common now, here's an example of what to look for: www.aliexpress.com/i/32830169709.html

Can I just ask? if the hack is done does it effect the way the menu worked from new, I have just about got the hang of the basic stuff. would hate to do the hack and find all the settings and menus had to be learned again for the steering and throttle. thanks
@RCMojoTV5 жыл бұрын
The basic functions are a little different, the use of the back and end buttons are the main change, but once you start using it it'll make far more sense than FlySky's effort. The additional and advanced features can be a bit cryptic though, mainly due to limitation on what the LCD and display, as long as you have the firmware manual in front of you it's not too bad. A friend setup an 8 channel receiver with 8 servos to visualise what was happening and just went through all the functions to see what they did

So can I use a channel to run a rc4wd winch with a wired controller? The controller says the radio must have a three position switch.

I don't see why not, you can configure the rocker's to act like a 3 position switch in momentary mode. You would have to hold the switch to the left or right to run the winch in or out

Probably a daft question, but how will one operate 8 channels as there are no extra buttons on the unit?
@RCMojoTV5 жыл бұрын
Most of the buttons on the transmitter can be set to control any of the functions. For example the steering trim button can be used to control channel 4, you can set it to switch between one of 2 or 3 positions for a 2 or 3 speed gearbox. Or you can make it increment in small amounts to act a bit like a control knob. There are many other options too of course, and if you want access to the steering trim it’s a couple of clicks away with the scroll wheel
