Flysky GT3B Hacked Firmware 0.6.1 UPDATED

Updated video about how to flash your Flysky GT3B, GT3C, GTX3 with the hacked custom firmware by PSX. A few things have changed since the last video I did a few years ago. I'll try to go over the common issues that pop up as well as show you how to calibrate it when done.

tin your wires before you place them through the board. It keeps any strands from shorting to any other trace or solder point and it allows them to bond better to the solder points.

When doing this on Windows 10 make sure you get the latest version of ST tools. I downloaded and installed a previous version not knowing any better and it did not work. Also, reboot before running the STVP. You can program this with the batteries in and the controller turned on. This eliminates the annoying beeping caused by the low voltage alarm. Thanks for the tutorial. It really helped.

Excellent info, thank you so much. I've just ordered two of these and already have the programmer for other stuff I've flashed. I think I'll try to solder pin headers onto each, so that I can just use jumper wires from the top side. Looks like it should fit in there with the buttons.

Its been a while, but you dont need to use windows 7 for this. Just make the software run windows 7 compatibility mode and it works like normal! Just right click the shortcut/app, go to properties, click on the compatibility tab, under compatibility mode - check the box and change it to windows 7. It works great! (Works for windows 8 and up)

Why not just solder to top just make sure u do it right reset not obstructed just not labled. just tack em on top as there only temporary connections be easy to remove after u flash it

I followed to the letter, proper soldering. I get an error message that says cannot communicate with the tool,wrong tool selection or check tool power supply or check that a previous session is closed. All wires correct, did this before turning on ST link. I’m using the same programmer as you. Any ideas? I’ve used 10, 8,7,XP, same message, yes It does power up and beep lo voltage EDITED UPDATE !!! ISSUE was caused by using extension USB cable...the ST link wasn't seen, BUT powered the radio. went direct to the USB and all worked perfect! BIG THANKS!

It looks like ST have changed the listings on their site. I can't find the "STVP-STM8" software. It only lists "ST-LINK/V2" and "STLINK-V3SET" now. Any idea what is the right way to go? Edit: Nevermind. You can find it if you search for it on their site.

Update: I have done the hack to a GT3C using this video and the pin out for the GT3C in the description. Works great! Just have to follow it closely.

Regarding the low voltage alarm, I can't set it higher than 10.5v for 3S batteries. Is this correct or have I missed something? Thanks

OK I have watched a few of this videos after ... never having watched one .... and I am cracking up for one reason - Why is everyone soldering with the wires put in from the bottom ??? - while that is the correction orientation for the pads, if you just pre-tin and flux a wire with a short exposed bit . .. you can just solder it with it inserted from the top. That way you don't have to remove the board at all ! So if you are new to soldering stuff like this that might not be the best idea but if you have some experience and some thinner wire ( remember PSX m0dchips ? ha ) it is an alternate way to do it. Thanks for the video update though ! Great explanation !

Also, I notice on the GitHub, there is a 0.6.2 pre-release. Wondering if I should try it. Maybe I will dig in to it a bit more before I try it so I dont possibly brick a good controller.

I'd stick with 061. It's been out for years and we'll tested. I've loaded it onto a dozen gt3b over the years and never had a problem.

Try flashing it again. If flashing was interrupted then it's toast.

Do you have any info on where to find a wiring diagram to connect extra inputs for each channel (like potentiometers, switches, etc)? Ive seen a few listing around for "customized gt3's" but no schematics or diagrams. I have the datasheet for the IC chips but dont know which pins to connect to.

Look up Dasmikro kits. They allow adding more switches to the gt3b if you have the psx firmware.

Just curious if you or anyone you know has had a problem with the display freezing after hack sometimes it’ll work for a couple minutes then freeze if I shut it off it won’t turn back on for about a half hour after that it may stay on a couple minutes or only a couple seconds Any help would be greatly appreciated beings it’s a new radio and can’t be used the way it is..... I have done multiple hacks with no issues but this one I can’t figure out.... do you have a file for the stock gt3b firmware I could get to try to reset it to factory mine didn’t save 😞

I hacked my gt3c which went great but messing around after I messed up my reverse. Forward works perfectly while reverse is jumping. No matter what position the throttle is it jumps. Any ideas on what I did so I can fix it in the controller.

I modded my gt3b yesterday, set up my model, played with it for oer an hour. No problems. Tried it today and it powered on for about 10 secs then DIED. If I leave it sitting for a while, long while, it will power on again for about 10 seconds. WTF? It worked great yesterday.. I set the voltage on calibration to 10v, because that's what my multimeter read.. I run 8 nimh's. I set the low voltage to 8.8v.. I did mess with the LOCK feature where you have to hold down the enter button for a few seconds to get the butons to work, but once you hold the enter, it doesnt lock again unless you go into the firmware setting and set it to lock again.' I dont get it.. ANYONE PLEASE?

Hmm. Maybe try different batteries. Make sure nothing is shorting inside the gt3b when you soldered the wires. That's all I can think of. Something isn't right for sure.

Hi, I posted this on your other video but since this is an update, maybe I should post here instead. I installed the hacked firmware on my gt3c and it boots up fine when connected to the ST Link programmer but if I try connecting to the microUSB the screen flickers and the controller beeps. It's like it's in a reboot loop and I am not able to do anything in the menus as it cycles very quickly. Unfortunately, my battery is currently dead and I am waiting for a new one from China. Not sure if that has something to do with it but I was able to power the controller fine with a small usb battery bank and the micro USB port. Has anyone else seen this behavior? Also, the firmware seems to be flashed OK although my ST Link is now on the fritz and is not recognized by Windows ... otherwise I would try reflashing.

If you can power the gate via power bank than it seems to be an issue with the battery. Try to get another st programmer and reflash it. I haven't run into an issue like this but maybe the rcgroups or rccrawler forums will have someone who ran into the same problem.

@@KenVersus So I finally got the replacement battery from China. Plugged in the new battery and seems fine, even when connected to USB with battery installed.. If I take out the battery and plug in the USB, however, I get the flashing screen. I didn't have this with the stock firmware, it would run off USB without a battery installed. Regardless, seems to work with battery in so no issue.

Probably not a firmware issue. Try another servo. Calibrate the transmitter.
