Flysurfer Sonic 4 12m First Test

‪@FlysurferKites‬ have recently launched the Sonic 4. I was lucky enough to get my hands on the 12m, 15m and 18m kites. I will be using them for kite foil racing in local events in Western Australia. Thanks to Darren and the awesome team at ‪@actionsportswa3803‬ for getting these kites to me before my trip up north. i am quite new to foil kites and the thing i love about the sonic 4 is the massive wind range, i can start kiting with a 10M sonic at 11 knots and its still fun and i am still not overpowered at 22 knots with full power so i guess i could make it to about 25 knots i love it

Awesome video, kite looks good, really nice scenery.Your foilriding is very smooth and fun to watch. Flysurfer sonic 4 doing very well witth jumping heights of35.5 metres

Thanks. Loving the kites so far. I have tested the 12m and 15m. More tests to come to compare with R1s and VMG2s.

Nice review, i am interested in your thoughts about the windrange compared to the R1 v4. Especially size R1 11m vs Sonic 12m and both models in 15m 👋🏼

Great footage, really 👍 In a racing perspective, how does it compare to Sonic 3s or R1v4 ? I mean max angles, low and high end stability and speed. And btw, which foil are you using ?

Thanks @arnaud8423. I find it just as good upwind as the Sonic 3 and better downwind. Definitely an improvement. Comparable to the R1v4 downwind but not as good upwind (speed / angle) as the Ozone. If you want to be competitive on the race course and the other riders in the fleet are on R1 or VMG2, then you need to get a VMG2

I’m using a Mikes Lab bullet 3 in this video. I usually ride a Chu V4 mast with V3 glider

@@benmaz Thanks a lot for your reply. A friend of mine uses the 12 and 8 and covers an amazing range of conditions with these. 😎 And now for light wind he's on the fence between an R1v4 or another Sonic4. We're just weekend racers but we still like fast gear 😉 Cheers

Hello! Did you try Soul 12m and if yes, with which kite would you get more power in low winds?

Hi there. The Soul has more low end in my opinion but less performance especially upwind. It really depends on what your objectives are as well as your weight and what you are using it for.

@@benmaz I'm 69kg. Looking for a kite to water start on TT in low winds and that would keep me going, can deliver maximum power by moving the kite. Do you mean low end while the kite can fly? I got Peak5 13m because I was told it has the best low end. Yes, it flies in almost no wind, but it doesn't pull on TT as Soul 2 10m does.

@@aleshaborisovich Soul will pull more than the Sonic. Sonic will be higher performance, quicker through the air and better for high jumps
