I own a15 Soul for years and was on a testival in Norddeich/ Germany. Tested the 15 and 18 Sonic4. I can acknowledge the points in the Video, like a Soul on Steroids. Hangtime unbelievable, easy handling. Only a Little Bit slower due to the aspect Ratio. Hab i to choose, I‘d take the Sonic now. Formula1 drivable for the average kiter.

Thank you for helping me decide- I just got to try out my new Sonic 4 18m to replace my Soul v1 18m and your review pretty much matched what I felt- couldn’t believe the hangtime increase over the Soul and how much easier it is to steer while boosting. The upwind performance was a pleasant surprise too.

thank you, for your review. I agree on all. I noticed, that is can jump higher with it that the Sonic 3. I can swing it harder up without loosing the edge. What are your experience about jumping hard?

Just tried the Sonic 4 12m , and in comparison to my sonic 3 13m (I also previously own a soul v1 12m), it really feels more stable, specialy the wing tips as mention in the review, it turns quicker which was a bit disturbing at the beginning. the most important point, as an hydrofoil big air lover, I feel it boosts higher may be due to this quicker turn Overall, looks like it has win more from the soul behaviour than it lost from the sonic 3 peformances which make a perfect combo for easily boosting

Nice video!!! But hej, for every Foil Kite you have to adjust the mixer according to your riding style. One setting I can share to counter wing folding is, only for the Speed 5/ Sonic 2, : B-1 cm, C-2cm. We tested it in Sri Lanka..9/12/15 sqm speed5 in 20-30 knots. The kites became much more stable.

Thanks for the review. I do feel the sonic 3 gets a bit bad rep on being non-user-friendly. It does require some understanding how to fly it but I find it to be incredibly stable once you do.

I had the opportunity to compare the sonic 4 and soul 2, both 8m2 for fouling. I can confirm all your observations. In addition I'd say it driffts way better. The sonic I got was RTF with race bar and I must say that tandem is the dream. Sonic in my opinion drifts also better, although it has slimmer shape, keeps it riding downwind, but still having bit of race "soul" stay responsive and dewelops fast power when needed.If I find a buyer for my soul2 I will go for the way faster turning sonic 4. I have a suggestion for a new video about “how energy is transferred from the Kite or Wing through us ( human mast) to the board. I’m missing the comparison of the kite sizes of Sonic3 to 4. Does the 12m sonic4 match the power of the 11m sonic3 ? 13m vs. 15m / 9m vs. 10m ?

I know you like to ride a large foil, but wonder if you could speculate on how much wind might be needed to get going and be able to jump with the 10m and a small foil (650cm²). Thanks!

Thanks as always for the fantastic reviews! Your insights really help navigate the kite choice dilemma for many of us. I was hoping to get a bit of advice. I currently have a Soul 2 15m for light wind days, which I use with a twin tip (no foil yet), and at my weight of 78kg, it feels like it’s lacking a bit of power in around 10 knots. So, I’m considering upgrading to a Sonic 3 or 4 for that extra pull. I’m undecided between the 15m and 18m models-leaning towards the 18m for the added low-end power. However, I’m also concerned that, at this size, the kite might be a bit slow to turn and could feel cumbersome to manoeuvre. Do you think the 18m would be too sluggish, or could it be the right choice for maximizing light-wind performance with a twin tip? Additionaly I believe for my low-wind usage, the Sonic 4 is a better choice than the 3, as more reliable and user friendly kite

@@arnaud8423I find the Sonic 3 and Sonic 4 very similar for racing angles. If anything, I would say the 4 has better angles down wind. However, the 4 is definitely an easier kite to fly. More stable and predictable

What is the difference between the 10 and 12 m? Would you recommend one over the other (like 10 soul was „better / more loved“ then 12 m)? I fly sonix 3 11 and 18 m, and want to switch my small 11, bot dont know to with sice🤷‍♂️ 🙏 thank you

So far we have only tried the 10m so can’t comment on differences between the sizes. Hopefully someone who has can chime in.

Hi, super vidéo, I am getting 'good' with my foil, I like very light wind. What kite should I go for for extra light wind, any advice ? I am thinking Soul 18 with 21m lines ? (I am 85kg, front foil 1100cm2, my light wind setup today is Soul 12m with 25m lines, this is enought to take off even in 5-6 knts with a loop , but some times not enough to keep on going.

18m would definitely work in those ultralight conditions, however it is much slower to turn and the range may be limited. I’d probably lean toward the 15 personally, but if you can demo both that would be the way to go

Can You clear some things out? Who is its intended target audience and use? What is the sonic good for and whats the better use case for soul? Additionally i have a question. As I live close to a lake and far from the sea I rarely get to kite as the wind speed is considerably lower than at sea. What kite could i buy to reliably try twintip kitesurfing in 8-12 knots with gusty mainland conditions? I weigh around 90kg. Thanks for info.

Sonic4 is for someone who knows how to fly foil kites and looking for high performance and big air. Better use case for soul is someone looking for an all round kite or who is new to foil kites. For your scenario I’d go with the soul (handles gusts better) in a larger size - 18 or 21m

this is always a factor....fresh tuned kite. A well tuned Sonic 3 is well behaved too. :-)

Yes and no, it depends what your preferences are. S3 is a good kite no question , S4 is different but better in a few points only.

Disappointed that the Sonic 4 has a lower AR. I was hoping for a higher AR. First kite that FS has not put the technical info for the kite on the website. It seems like the canopy might be thicker than the Sonic 3 which will create more drag. Nice review.

I’d say, if you are looking for higher aspect, you should go for the VMG. Canopy of sonic3 is 44g/32g, Sonic 4 got 44g/34g So upper and lower sail is more durable
