I also have a Soul 6m and would have the same comments as you. For the higher winds, 18 to 25 knots (I weigh 150 lbs) I did try the Peak 4 and the FireFly 4; in the end I got a Kitech FRS 4m - double surface all along as opposed to the Peak 4, which means no flutter - and it is a pure joy foiling with this in stiff winds. Relaunch is instant and control 2nd to none.

I'll have to check out the Kitech. What's the 4m's range?

@@adventure-logs The 4m's range is not given on their website - not yet as it is a new addition. I weigh 150 lbs dry, and foil on a Moses 679 - with the 4m, I am comfortable from 18 knots to roughly 27-28 knots on the lake where I live - the chop here is very confused and hard to ride beyond 25 knots. Over 27-28 knots I get pulled off the board by the kite so no point. I use 18m lines. Check out kitechkites.hu/en.

Hi! i always like you video! It always goes with so professional explanations and it very helpful for weekends riders like me). So i am beginner in parafoile kiting but i bought Flayserfer Sonic 3 18. I already had 14 kite days sessions for last 3 months and i really like it! It really has amazing filing in bar)) huge performance and jamping capabilities) So the questions are: 1) with size of Sonic 3 you may recommend for me for hydrofoiling (Moses 633) in gusty conditions? In yours opinion is Sonic 3 11 m will be good for hydrofoiling with wind range from 15 to 25 knots? I am 243 lbs (111 kg) My Sonic 3 18 allows me to have a range in twintip from 9 knots up to 20 knots in very gusty conditions. 2) for wind up to 25 knots is 11 m Sonic 3 can be depower enough for hydrofoiling in 633 Moses? 3) what about the drift culpability of Sonic 3 in compares of Soul? Thank you in advance Take care yourself Best regards, Andrew

@adventure-logs 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the feedback! The Sonic3 11m is going to be a bit of a handful in 25kts ESPECIALLY if the conditions are gusty. For really gusty condition on hydrofoil I recommend the Soul. With your weight you do need the grunt to get up on foil but once you are foiling, you weight the same as everyone else basically. If you still want a Sonic3, Id really would recommend the 9m but at those wind speeds a Soul 7/8m would be pretty good. Soul drifts much better than the Sonic3, and like i said is much more behaved in shifting/unstable wind.

Would you recommend this kite to a seasoned Kiter just starting to foil? What do you weigh and what wa# your front wing size? I’m 210 and have an Armstrong 1550 front wing.

nice review. I have seen the Soul in action and it looks impressive. I saw Leif riding a 12m in 35+kts boosting like crazy. I bought Peak2 4/6/9m years ago for snow kiting, and using them for hydrofoil now (Moses 633/SS dwarfcraft micro or Armstrong 4.5.5), very cool kites for sure. But I think the Soul has a few additional attributes that make it a great choice. Flysurfer has done an amazing job. I plan on upgrading my Peaks soon ad maybe add a Soul too. Do you know when Peak5 are coming?

Thanks for the feedback! Not sure when the Peak5 is coming yet but since FS just released a new size in the Peak4 (13m), I don't expect the next gen for a little while, so I bet at least a year or two.

Currently I'm using a Pintxo bar with the Sonic3 11m which has a huge amount of depower. On my 6m, I just use a old Infinity 4.0 bar which has enough depower for me. Havn't had the chance to try the Force bar yet.

How would this do with a surfboard? Does it only drift when backstalled or also when it’s overhead? Eg if you put it at 12, let go of the bar, and started riding straight downwind, would it follow you? Currently flying the Peaks and thinking about a crossover kite that I can use for both foiling and surfing waves.
@adventure-logs
@adventure-logs 2 жыл бұрын
It would to a point but mostly no, it's not really designed for that. You are better off with an inflatable or if you want to stay foil, go a single skin like a Peak. For that situation, you would need to keep the Soul backstalled to stay in front of you and not collapse.

Thank you :-). That's a difficult question, because it depends on your conditions and how you like to ride. For sure the Soul 6m, it's not only a fantastic hydrofoiling kite but just a great overall kite. I've also have enjoyed my 8m and 10m. The 10m has a great range and is also great on twintip. I've heard fantastic things about the new sizes too(7m, 9m) but I haven't personally gotten to ride them. The 6/10 size gap works well, the 6/9 might be a great combination too. Let me know your conditions/style and I might be able to help you more.

@@adventure-logs hello Jason, thank you very much for your comment. I really just started foiling after 20 years kiting on a twintip. I'm still making my first meters with my Ozone Edge, but I'm looking for a great setup that I can use for a long time for foiling (between 10-30 knt)and can use at 30 knt with my twintip. I kite at sea and on lakes. I weigh 80-85 kg depending on the season of th year 😂 and and I am happy when I can cruise and master the basic skills of foiling. I look forward to your response, thanks in advance. Grtz Jan

@@JHulst For that high end, especially with a Twintip, the 6m Soul would be a great choice. For 10kts, you can make due with a 10 or 9, hell even a 8m but that in my opinion would be too much overlap. Id say either the 10 or 9 depending on what you want. Personally Id go 10m.

Hello, great videos. I'll get the soul too. TT and Foil. I'm going to buy sizes 15, 10 and 6. Is the gap between 10 and 6 too big? Do you also need the 8? But it is probably more of a luxury solution.

Thank you very much for this video. I own the 10m and 15m souls and I have really been considering the 6m soul for a higher wind foiling kite. I would love to have the upwind, jumping, relaunch, and ease of use of the 10m but in a more reasonable strength for high teens to mid 20s on a foil. I am typically way too concerned about the power generated by the 10m soul on a downloop to really go for loops with it on the foil. I would also be very interested to see what you can get away with when the wind is really ripping on a twin tip. Do you have any input on jumping with this kite? TT and foil?
@adventure-logs
@adventure-logs 3 жыл бұрын
I ride strapless waves on the HF so I don't have experience jumping it on that but on the twintip it's very quick and can easily can do powered kiteloops. It's definitely not as lofty as your 10m and you really need to keep the kite moving for good hangtime but it's turning speed makes that pretty easy. I haven't had it out on it's top it. I've taken my 15m Soul out in 25kts no problem so I can't imagine what the upper limit is on this. With it's depower(which is more than the 10m) I've been able to twintip and foil in the same session on the same winds which is pretty awesome. I've just moved down to SPI where they have 30-40kts of wind regularly so I plan on finding that top end.

Hi great video! I notice that you seem to fly most of the time depowered. I own these kites and haven’t figured out how to best use the trim system, would love to hear what you’ve learned. Is it for getting more front line tension when going downwind? I am a lighter rider but tend to feel really overpowered on this kite in mid 20s kts and above, maybe shorter lines would help?
@adventure-logs
@adventure-logs 4 жыл бұрын
Shorter lines would most definitely help. It will take power out of the loop and when you give it's power stroke. My kite was depowered because it was at the lower limits and would backstall significantly if trimmed for full power. I also need to do a bar line test as I'm pretty sure they are way out of adjustment.

Hallo AL Thanks For sharing your experience with the Soul 6m on a hydrofoil. I Always like youre films. However Speech And wind are not A good combi for hearing of spoken Words. But i liked Very much the things you showed That are possible with the 6m on a hydrofoil. I kite with tube Kites and bought a year ago 10m soul for 8/10 knot days on a lift 150 hydrofoil. I (185 lbs ) like this kite but I would like to have a faster steering kite with less pull when going fast. Even with a lot bar input the kite is at 12 Clock very slow in 8/10 knot days causing a complete stand still of the hydrofoil because of to long a lack of power. I am still experimenting with 16m lines and getting the kite further in the wind window for more power en les slack lines. Maybe I have tot turn my foilboard faster in the wind. It would be Nice to have An film of technieques How to fly it on light wind days. My quess is that an 8m soul on a hydrofoil should also be enough for 8/10 knot days with the right input. What is youre opinion about this.? But maybe it is just wishfull thinking and do I have to learn to steer the 10m kite better. Your films shows that a lot is possible with foil kites. Greetings Mike Greetings Mike

Thanks Mike! Yes the wind noise is a problem with my GoPro. I'm going to try to get some foam to put over the mic to see if that helps reduce it, if you have any suggestions Id be happy to hear. With the 10m, I would recommend getting more time under the kite before you try to change up the quiver. It is much different than a tube kite and will take some adjustment. Which bar are you using with it? The Soul likes up to 2cm shorter rear lines than front which will help speed up it's turning. Also having a bar with a longer depower throw will greatly help keep you from being pulled off the board as much. 8/10 kts is reachable on the 8m Soul with longer lines as long as you aren't on the super heavy side. The loops are nice and grunty which helps you get up on foil easier. Try getting shorter lines though for your 10m and try changing up your technique if you can first. You have to anticipate your power stroke a little sooner with larger foils and again this just takes a little adjustment. See if your steering lines again are a little shorter, usually my technique is to trim the kite so right at full bar in, the kite is slightly backstalling. This gives more control and allows for faster turning.

Adventure Logs Thanks for your tips for flying the soul 10m. I use An 2018 Airush (60cm) bar with 16m lines and extensions of 4m. Front An Bag lines are the same length and there is NO backstall when the bar is fully sheet in. In time I Will place Some pigtails for more backstall. I foil at the Northsea and sometimes it makes kitecontrol a little harder I quess. Few days ago I foiled with 16m on flatwater and gybing went really well most of the times. I could make very short turns on the hydrofoil. I quess I have to Practice al lot with the Soul to get a better kitecontrol. Ps I have no technical solution for the windnoise for now I would suggest not to speak to much while surfing. Thanks and have a Nice day
