SysInternals used to have a screensaver that simulated the blue screen effect back in the 1990s. It even had different behavior depending on the OS it was run on. Of course back then, changing the color of the blue screen was a simple matter of modifying the system ini file.

Legitimately glad that ever since I found out about the Comic Sans BSoD thing (in Windows 8.1 down to 8's first ever BSoD redesign to have the :(, you can switch out the font file for Comic Sans's to have the BSoD be in Comic Sans) via making Windows 8 8056 absolutely cursed, things in the BSoD modding community have spiralled as well to even greater heights.

The font used is Meiryo Boot, and this is only font so far that has that spinning animation.

I got bluescreened only one time, but it was mostly because of the fact that I had a shitty laptop that was more like a potato than a laptop, which also shut down randomly and was full of pop ups if you tried to run any browser

You can probably import a custom root certificate into store, create driver signing certificate and sign whatever you want with DDK tools, enable Custom Kernel Signing (from Windows China Edition) then disable test signing. I think that trick was used in the past to install patched drivers and many a rootkit. To prevent that UEFI keystore needs to be locked or windows product policy settings need to be secured further.

In Win 9X there was a possiblity to continue system operation after BSOD. It gave a little chance of return OS to function normally after BSOD. In NT kernel you cannot continue...

Back in the day, it was said that you could change the BSOD screen by editing an INI file in \Windows\, but never actually worked, or at least I never managed to get it to work nor saw anyone else reproduce it (at least not for real). I'm inclined to think it was either a hoax or that it only worked for a very specific version of Windows (maybe just one version before it was removed or maybe a server version or something). 🤔
