I have just recently purchased the quick disconnect and mine was very smooth in the rotation. It does seem to have smaller shims as the gap is smaller thatn yours. I would agree the pins look simple, but the engineering works as the centrifical forces will keep the snap locks in place while spinning, so I do not worry about that. My biggest concern it the small screws, but if I do not remove them, they will likely last for a while and at the durrent price of $45.00, this unit is cheaply replaces if wear begins. Thank you for your review so we all understand this part better.

Mine doesn’t click at all. It is super smooth. And I don’t see why you think the bearings will be screaming. They are just going back and forth as the pitch changes. They don’t spin. And I don’t see the need for a fancy thrust washer. There isn’t any thrust at that point. The forces are going the other direction. The spring is there to make sure the blade holder is held in the locked position. In flight, that isn’t needed at all. The centrifugal forces will keep it tightly in the locked position. The failure mode would be if the pins sheared. I could be completely wrong in these thoughts, but I don’t think so. Let me know. BTW - Mine does have the three little scribe lines.

No clicking here. The whole assembly is less than $50 bucks. If it starts to wear out I’ll just buy a new one or go back to the stock head. Thanks for the teardown.

Just got mine also. Has NO overtightening and operates very smoothly, so Fly Wing must be working on their quality control. Mine also has the guide lines on the "blade grips".

Just got mine today and have yet to instal. BUT, they seem to spin very smoothly with no clicking. My question is why would there be the suggestion to not fly inverted (or 3D) with these quick release units? In terms of engineering, what are they missing to discourage this? I do know Ali M. demonstrated very aggressive 3D flight with them...but still??

Ali beat the crap out them in his video trying to get them to fail and they didn’t. This one must just be defective. Iwould send it back or contact flywing for a replacement.
