Kudos for the video content! Excuse me for chiming in, I would appreciate your thoughts. Have you heard the talk about - Rozardner Flying Bird Reality (just google it)? It is a great one of a kind guide for how to get pilot license without the hard work. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my friend Sam at very last got great success with it.

If anyone is looking for other ways to get training look at your local news lol. My hometown is about 80k in the middle of nowhere and is serviced by a cape air flight to stl and since the “pilot shortage” they opened a flight school where you trained and they can hire you at 500 hrs on a Cessna and they have tuition reimbursement if you work for them for 4 years and I would of never known if I didnt see it on the news

YES! You should go to college if you want to be a pilot. And this comes from my Dad, who retired from United Airlines after 35 years and then flew for Cargolux. Even if you do not go to Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, my Dad's alma mata, you need a college education to fall back on. A large percentage of new airline pilots flame out, bust check-rides, and leave the industry, while others are grounded for medical reasons. A young pilot friend of my Dad's was permanently grounded for one incident of slight vertigo. Another young pilot was grounded because a heart murmur was detected in a company annual physical. Even though specialists cleared him of having underlying heart problems he was taken off the flightline. Dad also got an MBA and a Masters in Airport Management. He had options. Most airline pilots who fly for the majors are college graduates, and many have master's degrees or PhDs. Bottom line: You require a bachelor’s degree for all mainline airlines in the U.S. You can fly for a regional airline, for example Horizon Air or SkyWest Airlines, without a degree with ATS. You require a bachelor’s degree to fly for Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, American Airlines, United Airlines, etc. So, if you are content to fly the regionals for your entire career, then forget about college. Also, if you want to be domiciled in another country for your career, Emirates, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines do not require a degree.
@ekibirigeable
@ekibirigeable 4 жыл бұрын
@Aussie As What he's saying is true in the US. To fly for the legacy carriers, the major airlines, which is most pilots' ultimate ambition, you're required to have a degree and it can be in any subject. To fly for the Regional Airlines, which is where most pilots' start out, you don't need to have a degree. Again this is specific to the U.S. Other countries are different.
@kpov2533
@kpov2533 4 жыл бұрын
@Aussie As clearly you aren't educated in the aviation realm. Major airlines have a minimum requirement of a bachelor's degree. Keep the negativity to yourself.
@bullwinklejmoos

Buie Wynn Very well said. To be in this business you need a degree. It doesn’t matter what it’s in, as long as you have that piece of paper. Too many things can derail your career. Then what? Being a pilot doesn’t exactly lend you to be anything but a pilot. If you just lost your medical what do you have to fall back on? You need a degree. And maybe a side hustle.

Planning to not take college and start with getting my PPL after high-school then after go to either ATP or AeroGuard. I know the loans will be stressful but dedicating my self to it I know that I will just get more inspired to work hard so I can pay my loans off. I need to work 100000% on my program in the future, so I can get a good resume to file. And so I can get out of Regional after my hours to go mainline, international flying. Goodluck y'all! We got this. Believe in yourself I know having loans is hard even i am getting stressed without a loan. But just keep ya head up. Work for your future so you can pay those loans and tell a story on how you struggled, sacrificed. God bless, keep safe. Wear a mask. 👋

Hey Garrett, Do you think it'd be more difficult to get into a regional/major without a bachelors? Do you know of any pilots that got in without a bachelors? I'm currently halfway through my CS degree and I'm not really sure if I should continue and finish it or save two years and money to do ATP. I really feel like I'm losing two years of seniority by doing the CS degree which really won't hold any weight in the future because I'd have no experience in the field and I'd have a big gap from the time that I got the degree. And as you know, seniority is everything in the airline industry. But the other part of me (and my family) says to get the degree in case anything happens (losing medical, etc). Really appreciate you and your videos. They help a lot! Thanks! Vince

Splash 86 Splash 86 hey dude. A lot has actually happened since I left this comment but I decided to get the bachelor’s. The reason is because you are basically required to have a bachelor’s degree if you plan on flying for the major airlines. If you don’t have one, you won’t be competitive enough and most likely won’t get out of the regional airlines. If you’re planning on staying at a regional, then you wouldn’t really need the bachelor’s. But again, it definitely is sort of a small safety net in case anything happens with flying (health issues, etc). I wasn’t able to find a co-signer to get a loan for ATP, so I’m currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree online and planning to work for a year or two to build credit history and to eventually apply for the loan myself. I’ll also be using this time to get my private license so that I can start ATP at the private level. I actually changed my major from CS to Accounting because I realized I was never interested in CS in the first place and couldn’t see myself finishing the degree. But yeah long story short, get the bachelor’s one way or another before the major airlines. If you have any questions, let me know! I’d be happy to answer any that I can and share some knowledge.

It's weird to me that you need to a college degree to fly in some americans air lines here in portugal and as far as i know in europe you just need to go to flight school and have the required flight time, because IMO this really isn't a carrer that you need a degree in it's more about your capabilities as a pilot and your experience
