A note about your concern of the sound quality of this video. When this concert was aired in '88 a friend of mine recorded it in a standard mono VHS recorder. Although I made a copy using my dad's hifi VHS recorder that year nothing was at hand to improve the sound quality. Before uploading to KZbin I took the time to remove the hiss and to improve the equalization a bit. I would have chosen to keep this tape stored but decided to share this rare treasure with those the music belongs to: the audience. I was there and it was thrilling to see the masters play live for the very first time. Let the music talk.

Can you imagine if the whole world can listen to Jean-Luc ponty higher frequency music. There would be so many healings people be rising up in higher frequencies everybody be nicer even the Koch brothers in the bilderberg's don't want war they would find another place to put their money instead of war. Love you guys loved all your band Jean-Luc I met You in Merrillville Indiana and you signed an eight-by-ten for me. I have my brother with me his eyes were like flying saucers we were so stoked. I met him in Chicago to briefly he was playing with Larry Correll In Chicago. My boyfriend and I were hanging out with him. He asked for a ride to a nightclub and we said yeah sure. Lol my boyfriend was underage at the time and I was just I think 21 so all this is giving away my age sorry people. At any rate after the show we all were chase down the street we thought our car was parked somewhere else and it was totally around the block we have people running after us oh my goodness. I should write more Chicago stories because there's been many of them I've done Opera, jazz, 30s - 40 Trained to sing anything Did Tv and Film Great life. Could have earned more money but I got to sing, act, dance. We no media. Don't need Fame or to be a celebrity. Glad I got by pass that and then along way meet The Greatest Jean LUC, Stephen Grappelli, Jeff Beck - many times. So grateful Lord. Johnny Griffin, or so many stars Bobby Enriquez. Great pianist. Mad man of piano. Left too soon Jerry Weldon, So many Stars and then there is the dignitaries...... 🕊️ To all. God Bless Jimmy Carter, Family, and friends💜💜💜✝️✝️

Jean Luc Ponty la rompía esos años en Chile. Con "The Gift of Time" lanzado el'87 con esta misma formación sonaba en varias radios como Concierto, Futuro y Carolina. También El Conquistador tenía como cortina un tema de Ponty en su resumen noticioso. Lo impresionante fue primero que viniera a Chile, en años en que aún era difícil que nos visitara alguien importante. Y lo más increíble fue ver el concierto en Tv abierta. En esos años no era muy facil ir a conciertos, por lo que JLP y su banda fueron vistos por seguro millones de chilenos. Lamentablemente en esos años, el sonido para tv era ambiental y mono. Por más que @flyzee hubiéses tenido un vhs stereo con 6 cabezales, no era mucho lo que se conseguía finalmente en sonido. Y radio Concierto, que a veces transmitía en conjunto con C13, se colgaba del sonido de la tele... Fue tan importante este concierto en Chile para Ponty y para el público chileno que de ahí se generó una relación muy especial y mutua. Hasta en "Le Voyage", producción compilatoria doble de Ponty, hay una foto con la banda en el Aeropuerto de Santiago cuando llegaron a este concierto. Sigo...

En "Faith in you" se siente con mayor énfasis el respeto por el sonido original del registro en estudio, y eso fue lo primero que me terminó de volar la cabeza. Y creo que eso también lo valoró el público además de disfrutar sin fin la selección de temas. En 3:15 se siente la sorpresa y el vitoreo del público cuando JLP entra en pizzicato y cuando termina en 4:40. Lástima que en el video está cortado ese tema porque la ovación fue grande, al igual que en "Between sea and sky". Gran recuerdo. Gracias por subirlo.

Thank you brother for this, I always love this song, everything about it I love Jean-Luc Ponty and the Group, I'm a bass player, and Baron Browne playing on this always blows my mind, I wish the camera had a panned in a little bit more and closer on him once in a while, Baron Browne goes into a riff that lasts about a minute and a half, about midway through the song, totally unbelievable,but thank you just the same fantastic!

Este recital lo vi ese mismo año...transmitido por canal 13 en directo..yo tenia15...su musica la venia escuchando en carteleras musicales de la tv o radio..pero no sabia quien era su interprete...y fue en ese momento supe quien era..este gran musico con su gran musica ..que me transporta...y tube el honor de verlo hace 3 años en conce...el 2011.

I have to agree with kliktuu, Too damn cool actually watching JLP, plucking and picking the strings towards the end of Faith in You. I've been lucky enough to catch 4 of his shows in my lifetime, each time an experience. I was first introduced to Jean-Luc Ponty's music in '76 when Aurora came out,, been listening to him ever since. Jean-Luc Ponty , what can you say?,, no other like him!! I saw Ponty in Philadelphia the same year as this show and I recall Scott Henderson was on guitar. Can anyone confirm he played with Ponty in 1988?
