Played JLP's "Upon The Wings Of Music" album 1000+ times while I was in college in 1976-1979 - brings back such great memories - thanks JLP for the awesome music!

Great to hear JLP! Been following him since the 70s and have seen him in concert many times. Terrific to see his daughter with him. And wow terrific bassist and drummer!

Absolutely breathtaking to hear Completely Fresh Re-interpretation of tunes they have done years earlier. Mssr Jean-Luc's performance get more masterful and expressive each time I hear his latest work. The excellent musicians who share their talents seem to be utterly in sync with each other. Thanks for this post!

at 8:42 it looks like Mr. Ponty starts playing the head again and quickly realizes that they are still improvising and does an amazing job of continuing with the solos. He is amazing

Fantastic live show. My dad introduced me to Ponty when I left home for college with a box of his records.. Fifteen years later, I've added many more JLP's to the vinyl collection, and have turned many friends on to the power of the Ponty! Would love to see him live. Would travel abroad to make it happen!

My favourite of many different gigs; JLP at the Rainbow in North London, May 1979. Never bettered for me and the joy which came from the stage was mesmerising. Ralphe Armstrong on fretless bass was outstanding. 45 years ago and the album of the LA leg of the tour so I can re live as close a version of the concert as possible. Thank you Jean Luc for the memories.

Jean Luc Ponty is my idol. I love his violin playing more than anything! And i think he used L.R.Baggs System too. I am a professional violinist myself and play in many bands. I was interested what effects he used from minute 25:25 to 29:47 besides the delay and shimmer! Simply a brilliant concert from him as always! And that his very talented daughter played with him. Great job!!

The Solo Violin is such a beautiful instrument That is very underused as the main instrument and to be played with such music is gratifying..The violin can be such a solum and sad instrument when called for.. There are not many instruments that can portray such feelings as the Versatile Violin 🙏

i get the impression that an older JLP is not as agile now as he once was, and the drums must play louder in order to overshadow him and try to create some balance from the whole.

Yes, I was watching Simon Phillips' Little Big Beat just before this and you can tell how everybody is literally on fire in that. This lacks the punch.

Damian Schmitt definetely HAS power and punch. Also the bassplayer. JLP is now 78 years old, I can understand, that he is calmer than before.

@@arijitchief Why do you compare ? I listened to these sessions, yes they are absolutely crazy, and I love Simon, but here you have a fantastic violin, I first heard him on Mahavishnu's Apocalypse in 74 and his playing still moves me. I've seen Ponty with Chick Corea and Return to Forever in Marciac, great moment.
