big tech were always there, it just wasnt computers, it was comunications and music studios wanting to control how you listen but failing to come with a delivery that allowed that, digital media and streaming were a blessing for them. and we had social media, it was called malls,arcades and parks. it was the meeting point and gossip delivery. smart phone was a blessing, who never lived in the 80s dont know how anoying it was to have your sister holding the god damn phone line for hours
