Bruce Springsteen is excellent for creating wonderful lyrics, but by far " Manfred Mann" rocked this one to the core! I remember when they first released this on FM radio, I couldn't get enough of it! It's now Monday 06/26/2023 , and,I am very much enjoying the memories.

This is the best MMEB track of their catalog. I'm a Springsteen fan, but I have to admit - I like this remake way better than Springsteen's original. I love this version. It rocks. The arrangement from start to finish is brilliant. The whole middle section with the synth solo, guitar solo, and the turnaround before going back into the vocals is brilliant. They practically re-wrote the entire song.

Same with Blinded By The Light - that half-time bridge section and guitar solo is so epic.

Thanks for posting this song. Turning me on to this song was one of many great things my older sister did for me. I bought the LP version (probably from Tower Records) and more than once I sat on our shag mustard carpeting in the corner of our living room and played this one track over and over and over again on our all-in-one hi fi stereo-radio-cassette player. Great memories.

Can we just get Manfred Mann back together and have Springsteen be their full time song writer.....I mean really. Springsteen can't sing to save his life but he writes a hell of a song. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if he retired from performing and just penned hits for Manfred Mann......just a thought.

Oh dude I'm with you on that one about springsteen's voice. Chris Thompson who sang so many of MMEB songs is one of the quintessential rock voices. I'm not a fan of springsteen anyway but he does have a knack for writing great songs, recording them lousy only for MMEB to come along and make gold out of them and Bruce a healthy royalty. Sony E Steet fans but I am not.

If only I had the room to tell you the story...... These days any hint of longing for a lady and pursuing her out if unrequited love is labeled as stalking. Yet, the 1980's allowed us to do just that. When it was all said and done, I won her heart, but decades later I'm so very glad we weren't meant to be. The sons. The car. My video. .still in pieces.
