You are correct - I've been all about the Dan since 1982. Still love 'em and listen to their stuff all the time. Funny thing is, there are 4 more SD vids I've made that YT blocks worldwide (!)

Steely Dan was always the calm in the midst of the storm. Very much different from all the rest. A comfortable lay back music recognizable in an instant. Smooth to perfection. Even today my 63 year old ass wants to just get up and groove to these tunes. Not only does steely Dan bring back so many memories, but brings back that youthful feeling again. I want to put on some tight britches lol, and dance in my fancy pants.

You absolutely cannot go wrong with his band! My teen years spent listening to some of the best music ever. Music will never be like it was "back in the day!" Teaching my 16 year old granddaughter "my" music. Some of it she gets. But, she's still young and has a bit to learn.

Does anybody get that here is this old band that was there at the time to write this and perform it for the movie Car Wash as FM was really a totally different way to listen to music... the quality!!! It changed so many things including the range of music you could hear.... public radio, university radio and community radio was really founded in the opening of FM freqs for licensing once the tech was really ready.... Apollo tech gave us the car radios that were able to do both AM and FM and give us the sound that really came close to a record at home...

Starting at 3:10, the lead guitar "outtro" (ending) sounds like David Gilmour/Pink Floyd. If someone wouldda said "They hired David Gilmour for this part", it would be totally believeable. Also, the band YES, song "Owner of a Lonely Heart" seems to have sort of ripped off this song for their main theme.

Fersher. The counterculture came to us in L.A. through top 40 AM, as it did throughout the country, which speaks to what we were demanding, and we got it. FM kicked in late 60s as the certainty of change heralded by our troubadors, Dylan, et al, grokked through AM, began to wane, and FM became a refuge. No static at all, but collective change was a memory, and the guys brilliantly, heartbreakingly conveyed that too, "Kid Charlemagne," which I first heard on 94.7, KMET.
