These videos made me buy the summit. I have it for a year now and i could not be happier. Truly a work of art. The only feature request i have is assignment of mod destinations should be as easy as turning the designated knob instead of scrolling in the menu. Thx novation, i am a big fan.

Fantastic take on FM using the FPGA tech, really incredible. Thanks for the demo, it sold me the Summit. Your videos are really interesing.

Is it possible to send audio rate CV to modulate Summit’s oscillators? I know that’d be exponential FM, but still would be cool.

Technically yes, although the CV input has a limited sampling rate. The Summit LFOs are capable of audio rate modulation so this is also possible without the use of an external source.
Something in this video is confusing me. At the start he is working with the FM for Oscillator one. However, when you look at the mixer section all the oscillator inputs are turned to zero. How is this sound coming through the mixer? If I do this there is no sound. I can only assume the audio was recorded separately to the video and this is an editing error. Or am I missing something? Is there a way for the oscillator output to bypass the front panel controls for mixer input? In addition (and related to this) I have played with some of the factory presets where I have turned down all the mixer inputs and still have white noise coming through the mixer/filter. I'm not sure how this is happening as, to my mind, if it's not coming through the mixer it's not going anywhere. I've only had my Summit for a week and am still getting to grips with all its intricacies... If anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated.

Apologies for any confusion this may have caused. At the start of the video, CALC presses Patch Initialise, to reset all synth parameters to the default values of the Initial Patch. The current physical position of parameters is ignored when this is pressed until they are moved, so whilst the Osc volume levels are reduced in the mixer section, Osc 1 will still be heard as in the Initial Patch that is loaded, Osc 1 level is increased to 255. For Osc 3 to FM Osc 1, its output volume doesn't need to be increased in the Mixer section. Many things can cause the "White noise" behaviour that you're describing, such as VCA Gain level, Filter Overdrive and Distortion levels and the connectivity.
