Basicaly copy pasted this onto a 4231 i had with hartlepool... instant succes.. attacking transition is just so much better then my own one before. Could see the diffrence right off the bat going 3-0 up vs cambridge after 45 mins

That's good to hear. I'm playing in the Vanarama National with Poole Town and wasn't sure whether these tactics would be too adventurous for my part time relegation candidates

I was actually looking for some real life stuff to defend veersus crosses and then thought why not looking for fm adaptations and then i ended up to a Rashidi post on si forum(not shocked)(3-4 years old) and then post was telling smt a video you did and i searched and found this, watched through whole video and then i ended up having some more opinions about how and why to implement my notions into some other tactical strategies. So after all what i'm saying is, you just as i do in real life always tell for a whole understanding of the concepts, and that makes your videos are always up to date eventhough this is prolly fm17 and a 4 years old video. Thank you as always. :)

you are my favourite fm channel by far. i am new to fm and hqve very little idea to how to play it, as I am playing with wolves and thought that i had the game figured out after taking the wolvee to 5th place in my second season of play. the third season has been a disaster in the first 8 games, and i have just figured out that after going on a spending spree and changing the team inside out i have actually made the team worse onlyimproving the coaching staff (which i completely overlooked to assigned trainning responsibilities) and now the budget is in the shitter and there is no chemistry in the team with a horrible record. i play this formation as my primary set-up, and a 433 wide as my secondary. i completely overlooked the role of the fullback in relation to the winger and have completely created a hole in the defensive flank that you have allowed me to look into fixing. i am writting this and have yet to finninsh watching the video, but i felt the need to thank you. your videos are wxcellently done and the material presented are well organized so some rookie like me can follow and apply. keep up the food work, and i am sure that i will be writting in the future with questions and perhaps an update on the wolves series provided i dont get fired.

Could you do a video on how to do a possession tactics? Im struggling to keep possession as Barca. My average possession was only 57% last season. I`m playing with Control mentality, Fluid shape, lower tempo, play out of defense, shorter passing and close down more. I also have PIs on my DLP and center backs to close down less, and on my other midfielders and attackers to close down more. Formation is 4-1-2-2-1 GK FB(atk) CB CB FB(atk) DLP(sup) CM(atk) AP(sup) IF(sup) DLF(sup) IF(sup)

You wanna know the best thing? You are, regardless what you do one on one or even two on one in the back against a team which is used to a counterstyle of play... Also when the midfielders lose possession, the backline, the defense are in big trouble. These are the reasons why I never use a 4-2-3-1, but go with a 3-4-3, 3-5-2, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3. These systems are defensively much more reliable then the 4-2-3-1.

Great video as always man. A video on a 4-3-1-2 would be great!

Is using inside forwards and wingers on attack useful or is it better to keep them on support....I have martial as an inside forward on attack and griezman as an inside forward on attack aswell as lulaku as a cf on attack...im under the notion if all of them are on attack they can use their skills more effectively because each of them has an 18 on finishing

Just wanted to say, I've tweaked this slightly for FM19/20 and it works like a gem. Wanted to ask, though, why didn't you give your AM "close down more". Plus, i want to use dual carileros in a 4312. What role you think will be best for holding MF. Thanks again. You're amazing, my friend. Keep doing this thing. It's inspiring.

Question: Won't setting your forwards on hard tackling cause some really bad "horror" tackles? Also, do you set tackling to harder in opposition instructions? or do you not use oppposition instructions at all like some people. I mean forward players usually they usually aren't the best at tackling, lacking either aggression and/or tackling ability?
@BusttheNet7 жыл бұрын
No it won't, I'd be wary of getting a forward player with high aggression doing that. I just want them to hound opposition players when they don have the ball

hi mate. can you explain tactics with 3 centre backs and 2 centre forwards ?

Another great video Rashidi! May i ask you opinion about using a asymetrical midfield in systems with only 2 midfielders? For example in that 4-2-3-1, using a DMCL and MCR. Do you think it could minimize damages? Thanks
@BusttheNet8 жыл бұрын
No I don't think it will in fact, it may create some issues, you need the two DMs to play off each other sometimes. It may work, but it may need you to put the DM on support. You do want him to get close to the MC if needs support
@frankoliver76118 жыл бұрын
Thank you. What about defensively, do you think it should be ok to play that way, asymmetrical?
@frankoliver76118 жыл бұрын
I'm also asking this about using on of them at the DMC strata because if i want my team to drop deeper there'd be no big gab between defense and midfield. Telling a team to drop deep with nobody in DMC can be problematic.

This system has been catastrophic for my team so far. 0 wins -1 draw -4 losses . I am playing as Balfield in Argentinian Premier Division . I hold 60% of the ball in most matches but my team struggles to creates any chances plus my players always arrive second on the ball.

I am using this formation on FM16 (FM17 isn't being sold here in Brazil) and the tactic is working fine. But I wanna make changes to the roles of my CMs. Both of them are in the Central Midfielder role. How do you think I could change the roles in the center to improve this tactic? Thanks for the video and any advice you can give me. :)
@BusttheNet8 жыл бұрын
Basically you could play the same way, since you can't use the IWB the same way, what you could do is turn the forward to an AF, have one winger on attack on the right and turn the AP(S). In the middle you will still need two central midfielders. One of them needs the ability to be a direct passer. I actually prefer playing either a DLP(S)/MC or MC/MC with specific PIs. I will never use a BBM or a BWM there..

Hey mate nice video. Was waiting for a 4231 explanation for so long but somehow no one in the forum seemed to be interested in this system... Just wondering have you messed up with the last two TIs? Shouldnt low risk be Counter and moderate risk be Control?

Could you do 41221 next? Good vid. Also could you explain more of what low/high block is and why cant I just set pressing for entire team to much more and have just that?
@BusttheNet8 жыл бұрын
I did a 41221 already, if you set the whole team to press more, you could easily lose shape. I rather use a high block where I close down much more and tackle hard up top
@dmitris.71958 жыл бұрын
do you think i could have more success by moving closing down back to sometimes and making front 3 + 1 CM close down + hard tackle?

Hi again. Would be a problem if I will change DLF A to CF A?
@BusttheNet8 жыл бұрын
Mate there are so many combinations up front, in fact if you choose to do a CF, I would ask why?There are other combos, not sure but I think my latest video with Gloucester will show how you can use a AF to break behind the lines. That's if that's your intention using a CF.

Thanks for the video! You change mentality and player's roles a lot during games. How do handle team familiarity with all those different options?
@BusttheNet8 жыл бұрын
I don't .Basically I go through a season chopping and changing like that, its tough sometimes. Most times I don't notice it.
@tijoalca8 жыл бұрын
thank you for your answer. So would imagine that team familiarity is more important for llm teams whose players have lower tactical attributes (such as positioning, without ball, anticipation etc)? Or do you really thing this is not an issue at all?
@BusttheNet8 жыл бұрын
Not really, I don't even think about team familiarity never have even for LLM sides. Over time they will get better that's true, if you stick to one style, but I don't think football is like that at all irl. I am pretty certain its got a small effect only.

@BusttheNet6 жыл бұрын
Counter is only a mentality and just adjusts your risk level. A counter attacking strategy can be done ON ANY mentality except Contain.
@MATTHRPE6 жыл бұрын
Yes, a mentality of defending behind the ball then getting the ball forward quickly on the COUNTER, retaining possession with this mentality is counter intuitive
