Great video I especially liked the part where you showed a chart of player mentalities with their roles(Att, Su and Def) in relation to team mentality at 4:18. Subbed!!!

Great first video! I've been playing about with mentality rather than tactics this year and this is a great explainer for beginners and a reminder to experienced players

This is a great video, but it would be great to know how many defensive, balanced and attacking mentalities are needed for good tactics.
@onthebreakfm26 күн бұрын
Thank you! Unfortunately there’s no real right or wrong answer to how many are needed for a good tactic. If you check out pontadelanca10 on Twitter he uses he almost all support duties for a really fluid approach, but some of the most popular tactics out there are all defend and attack duties and highly structured. Personally, I tend to aim for at least 3 support duties and no more than 5 attacking duties at the very most, but that’s not a rule I stick to religiously.

I usually play positive but I'm trying a cautious mentality at the moment.

What's your save at the moment? How are you finding Cautious?

@@onthebreakfm FC Volendam in the Dutch 2nd Division. Two big lads upfront, nearly every goal is a header. Need one win from three to qualify for the playoffs.

@@onthebreakfm even though we're playing cautious we scored the most goals and conceded the 2nd most

Excellent choice, I did a season with Volendam back on FM22 and really enjoyed it! I find with teams where I'm pleased with the individual quality in attacking areas I'm more willing to go onto cautious, which sounds counter intuitive, but if I trust that we'll score goals anyway then I can use cautious to try and protect us at the back.

@@onthebreakfm my thinking was we were void of pace so I didn't want to over commit, I had two big strikers Jumping 19 & 20 and a few players willing to get closer to them an AMC and two CMs on attack plus the wingbacks. So lump it forward and then support them from there when it's the right time. It seemed to work although we conceded far too many. We'd win games 4-3 rather than 1-0.

At 2:59, you mention that player roles are just hard-coded instructions. Are you sure about that? It seems to me that even if I set a Central Midfielder (CM) with the same visible instructions as an Advanced Playmaker (AP), they don’t behave the same. The CM is more balanced, contributing equally to defense and attack, while the AP acts as a ball magnet, constantly looking to create and distribute opportunities. Could you clarify this?
@onthebreakfmАй бұрын
You make an excellent point, and using the word just probably wasn't the best wording on my part. I'm certainly no expert on how the match engine operates, but my understanding is that playmaker roles are given an extra 'weighting' in the ME, where players will look to find them more often than other roles.

@@onthebreakfm In that case I recommend avgdad series on player roles in FM, it will blow your mind. Keep up good work💪
