If you like blending Western methods with high level FMA you need to get up to Milton-Freewater, Oregon and train with James Keating. It’s easier to fly to Tibet than Milton-Freewater, but it is well worth it to train with Keating.

What is the experience level of the HEMA fighter? Particularly in single-handed weapons? And which system are they drawing from? No disrespect intended, but I'm seeing a lot of areas of their technique that needs refinement.

Saber should've been more aggressive, had the reach advantage and the FMA guy would've had more difficulty blocking, and was more nimble with the feint.

I have a lot of fun sparring with HEMA guys. They're willing to spar and play more than wanting to talk and compare things. Basically.

Not sure about that brother. We were attack by the troops of Ferdinand Magellan in 1500 and according to Pigapeta the Spanish historian Magellan and his army was slaughtered in the island of Mactan in Cebu in the Philippines. Assuming that they all know Hema. Why they were force to use guns and cannons at the end to colonize the Philippines. They had such a hard time, they can't face us indios because of the effectiveness of Arnis or Kali. This has historical basis bro.

@@thehunter6915 2000 Cebuanos against 50 Spaniards who managed to withdraw almost all of them. I think you should read more history brother. ad mas many monks taught the art of fencing to the Filipinos to incorporate them into their troops and defend them against the moros. The myths are dead brother, better not read the science fiction nros.

@@EskrimaDeCombate Is there even reliable documentation to tell how much of Spaniard vs Filipino combat was sword fighting? I can't think of a bigger myth in war than that it's like a bunch of fencing masters from different cultures actually meeting each other blade to blade. And it would be stupid of Spaniards to rely on blades where the tech/skill gap is much narrower when they could just dominate with their firearms
