I am a math teacher and a Martial Arts Instructor. At my school I introduce geometry using the sword and stick. It's just so much easier for them to grasp the angles I'm describing because they can see and feel them. It goes over some of their heads, but most of them get it and they all seem to enjoy the lessons.

Training with GTS was the most fun I have ever had training. He is quick witted and throws out some great one-liners, but you have to be paying attention to pick up on them. Plus, every instructor has their own personal idiosyncrasies. Some of them are quite distracting. His actually enhanced the learning process (at least for me). He gets to somewhere in the instruction and says "You see the point". This is your cue to make a note. Doing a flow drill or a takedown or something he may stop 4 or 5 times and say "you see the point". These are your mile markers to make sure you are still on course and doing it correctly. I friggin love that.

different subsets/groups/derivatives in pekiti dog brothers - eric knaus ang GM philip gelinas, Power is the emphasis, and it is really explosive power, GM eric knaus has Very strong double-force backhand technique (and forehands too) and there are videos GM knaus was able to disarm after set-up. GM philip gelinas beats muscular guys with technique. mcgraths group big with the 64 attacks, the pekiti de mano and Asulon novel ptk smf of tim waid more on the tactical and military application to AFP here in PH, if you watch the videos the PH recon only need forehand backhand strikes. Besides Prado, another local pinoy ptk figure - the late Jasper de ocampo the longtime instructor of ptk to AFP. the way Tim waid moves too big on footwork as in big footwork, wide strikes. doce methodos is the emphasis of Tim waid as he learned from GT gaje in the late 80s -1990s. Tim waid also was a Private student of GT gaje in Bacolod, manila, etc. wherever they go, from 1993-1998 here in PH. pekiti tactical association of Guro Jared wihongi, kit acenas the texas kali association of GM ewin ballarta and Guro Leslie buck. the one ptk of GT gaje - small motions and the Sabayan and tri V. their one ptk of GTS curriculum different from the mcrgrath era 1970s and 1980s and tim waids time 1990s. so-called "kali orihinal" of sgt. prado but it's really ptk under tim waid 1998 (prado was his student) Actress Anne Curtis, was taught ptk by ptk pilipinas for a movie, that was good performance. those are the good performance ptk but the worst performance are below: - pekiti tirsia Lakan kali knock-offs = if you watch the Philippine national police PNPA lakan kali demo videos, they mixed ptk and wushu and judo and they do wu-tang movie type impractical jumping, theatrics and they Laugh during demos like not taking seriously ptk! this was criticized in The Filipino martial arts forum fb group -some of the millenials or Gen-Xers in ptk pilipinas like Sheenly Gener of ABS-CBN, Ramon bautista, Jun sabayton (comedians here in PH) they waste time by not practicing seriously, just laughing, doing Yoga kali, selfie with swords in wacky pose, smh.... ------------ guro latorre's group and maybe the likes of Ferd terado etc. (there are other people for sure i just forgot their names) are some of the reasonable ptk guys who advocate on the Legal ramifications of self defense and heavy into Empty hands VS knife because easier to justify as self defense, VS the knife cult of GT gaje, the Sundangan baneg of baldwin garrucho (but they changed after kickout by gaje), the problem with Gaje's dictator macho confrontational complex it influenced his students too, saying things like "stick is round, blade is flat" or "kill kill kill" or "Kill them all" or "cut the head and kick it like soccer ball", no wonder Gaje and his "clones" were criticized on aperture forum fb, The Filipino martial arts forum fb group...No amount of Belton Lubas apologist defense will justify that (belton he attended a seminar with GM TOm dy tang in ilustrisimo but i told KC ice Belton's threatening attitude when i posted on his fb business page the Spanish roots of ptk and indonesian roots of Gaje pekiti and other arnes influences in ptk, there were some of his students who Agreed and believed my expose', so belton got violent reaction same thing with Cabuyadao jessie, posted ptk expose on his business page, some of his students agreed and believed my expose, same reaction! Trivia: Here in PH, FMA rich influential thug alvin aguilar (who slashed face of nic nielsen, witnessed by Gian villanueva) was also a student of gaje, have his Knife fighting course which is Proud of his court cases to advertise his system, and there are videos there of aguilar slitting throat of victim from behind (clearly not self defense), Raul of KIOR aware of that much like the carlos hermanos and Libre Knife thugs (with their attacking Assasination techniques (not self defense), criticized in The Filipino martial arts forum fb group by torqui dojillo and raul, as raul said "you are always on the Legal Losing end if you got knife and attacker Unarmed" Pekiti Tirsia International mcgrath's group actually recognize the spanish roots of pekiti he said he would have called it pekiti tirsia eskrima. i am not sure one Pinoy tribe used eskrima vs another pinoy tribe meaning the indigenous tribes not yet christianized. refer to professor felipe jocano. christianized natives under Spanish recruitment VS the moros yes.

I totally disagree with your history. Before Magellan & his soldiers arrived in March 1521, the natives know how to kill with their swords, knives, sticks and hands. Magellan and his soldiers were killed and survivors left. The natives' martial arts knowledge and expertise are mixed Muslim (they came ahead of the Spanish) , Hindu (they came ahead of the Muslims as certain tribes in from Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao are led by "Rajah") and Buddhist (Indian & Chinese influence who were trained in Shaolin temples). Some Japanese samurai masters may have taught some when they left Japan in the 1700s to escape persecution of those who converted to Christianity (A statue of a Lord & small park could be found somewhere in Paco, Manila). Thus, the natives have adapted various foreign Asian martial arts mixed with their own. Then the Spaniards came in 1521 until 1898 and changed the cultures, traditions, religions, etc. Mestizos, offsprings of Spanish men and native women, learned the Spanish sword of fighting from Spanish soldiers but I seriously doubt being adopted by natives (called "indios" because the Spanish, both the insulares and penisurales, did not want to educate and train them because they look down upon them and cautious the "Indios" may use them in their revolt. On styles, they differ a lot, both in offense and defense. The Spanish soldiers taugh sword fighting only to Mestizos and Filipinos. The original "Filipinos" were pure Spanish born in the colony what is now called Philipines, previously called "Las Islas de San Lazarus." After June 12, 1898, declaration of Philippine independence, the natives or "indios" called themselves Filipinos. Most Filipinos of today don't know this little history. .
