Great to see GM Nick’s and GM Bobby’s friendship. It’s rare to see childhood friends last until there senior years.

It's what GM Bobby always says, "be friends with everyone." But yeah, it's difficult to maintain a friendship with people you've known since childhood. Even though they both graduated from Balintawak at the same time, they grew in different directions in terms of developing the art. But they still maintained their friendship without egos.

As one of the Taboada Balintawak representative in Italy, i'm so happy to finally understand more about Nickelstick Balintawak. So many similiarities and so good to see such a deep friendship between Nick and Bobby. Thank you JS for the video!

No problem, happy this shed some light on Balintawak and how it stemmed from the same source, but grew in different directions. Since GM Bobby and GM Nick both had the same teachers, they both said, "the curriculum is the same, but they just added more flavor to it." The friendship part is what's important, that's why they both have the olive branch on their logos as a sign of peace, respect and friendship.

Love to hear these personal stories and histories. It shapes the teacher and how they pass on their teachings to their students. Totally agree with what GM Elizar said, “it doesn’t matter how good you are as a martial artist/fighter. What matters is your character and how you treat people.”

Sometimes it's best to get the oral stories directly from the source. It's rare that the GM's write a book to document their journey and experience. IP Man and Bruce Lee died decades ago, and their names are still spoken till this day. We have our own masters as well, and they deserve to have their names remembered for the future generations.

@@FMAPulse yeah, sure, I was wonder when I heard GM Nick's singing first time, he is a great singer also!!!. We even made a collaboration - mixed two songs - English and Russian - based on one music - it was so funny😄

We loved it there, We wish we had more time to interview more people there, but we were only able to stay 3 weeks. We were traveling all over the Visayas and only had the chance to meet instructors that were available at the time. We definitely need to go back and stay longer.

Jessie, I've seen a video of where you get authorised in Balintawak but what other fma styles are you authorised in or train?

I'm always training and learning other systems, but I don't put it out there unless I get the teacher's blessings. As of now, I'm only teaching Balintawak and Defensor Method.
