Congratulations on that. Since we’re on the topic of what we do, I’m a pilot. Pilots alike agree that this is useful. Thanks for watching and have an amazing day ☺️✌🏽.

When I went to Lear 60 Initial, learning the FMS was the hardest part for me. At that time, there was no ground trainer to practice on so much of our sim time was spent pushing (and learning) buttons on the FMS. Flying the airplane the easy part. Eventually, Flight Safety got those trainers. We also had a disk drive in our airplanes where we could upload our flight plan and performance data from our flight planning service. This sped things up considerably. As a corporate pilot for 31 years, I spent most of my career waiting for our passengers. I really loved flying the 60!

It’s definitely a great plane. Fortunately I knew the FMS from the CJ2. It had a universal as well. Wow 31 years. That’s amazing. It’s good to know that it can still be enjoyable after that long. I love it.

One feature i loved in the 'Smiths' unit....( probably capable in the Honeywell, Universal, and Collins too) was when arriving at the jump off, 'end-waypoint on the Arrival...... switching to own nav' to intercept (HDG)......and creating the 'Xtend Centerline'....for vectors to intercept. Still tune the ILS for green needles for backup ( if there is one) ....but, Pink RNAV Needle for the Runway 'outbound course' line....to fly inbound, straight in VFR. Awesome stuff in those FMS units.

I'm in LR 45 initial and the FMS is what I'm struggling with most - never used it before! This was great.... thank you! Can you do one video quickly on intercepting and adding a PPOV to add points to an approach from vectors? LOL... guess I better figure it out before the checkride!

Sorry but I can’t really help you there because I haven’t flown the Lear 60 since 2017. But keep studying and I’m sure you’ll do fine.

One thing I would not do is have the FD bars showing the Hdg until you are ready to turn at 500ft otherwise when you rotate & fly the dials you have misleading turning indications coming from the FD bars. Push hdg when you REACH 500ft then follow the FD bars. Never T/Off with the FD bars showing other than straight ahead & with the appropriate pitch command.
@BrianMonette6 жыл бұрын
I see what you mean and you're right. I never had the issue of rotating and immediately following the FD bars but what you said practices safety and I'm all for that. Thanks for the tip.

What a way to do a tutorial: background noise (to make it harder to hear the speaker), background music (just in case the background noise isn't enough to drown him out), shaky image and constant zoom going all over the place. Why can't ALL tutorials be like this!

May I ask you something; why there is an item about reverser on T/O PERF page? Thank you.
@BrianMonette7 жыл бұрын
There are 2 options here: Stowed and Max. Maximum reverse thrust in case of an aborted takeoff that's not related to an engine failure. Or stowed so that the computer factors in spoilers and braking alone. Neither selection changes the V speeds so we just leave that alone.

I got it, thank you very much for your reply, appreciated.
