The lock work on them is very highly finished. They feed like a good baby. I rate them very highly

My father used an FN 50 in the Colombian Army in 1956. He says they were highly accurate at more than 1000 meters, without using a telescopic sight. They called them "punto 30" because of the .30 stamped on the receiver. Its a great rifle.

I've got one of these barreled actions (S.N. # 740), sitting in a bedded and floated Husqvarna commercial stock with a polished custom turned down bolt, a "White Line" (made in Los Angeles U.S.A. in the 50's) recoil pad and topped with a Bushnell Banner 1.5x-4x 1970's scope, in vintage Weaver rings. It weighs in at 8.5 lbs...A true "Hot Rod" of a rifle...With my handloads , 150 gr Hornady interlocks, pushed by IMR 4350 and running right about 2800 FPS, it shoots 1/2 MOA at 100 yds. Shooting 2 1/2 inches high at 100, It is a deer death ray, here in the southern Ontario hardwoods. My research into this rifle has told me that these Parkerized models made by FN (in 30-06) were specifically for the Colombian Navy. I believe only Belgium, also used these grey parkerized guns as well, in the Congo, but they were NOT chambered in 30-06.

Thanks for sharing , I couldn't believe it ,I searched and your video is exactly what I was looking for , I've been considering the 1950 Colombian 30-06 Mauser for sale at my local gun store , it's struck me how well made it is and I'd been looking at win model 70's as I wanted a 30-06 , it's only $250 AUS which is about $170 US , so cheap I'm going to go get it tomorrow , cheers big ears

A lot of these turned up in the gun shows here in Wa. state a few years ago. I bought 2 of em, they were in pretty rough shape. I have test fired both of them. The better of the two I have actually done a little target practice with. At first I had a dislike for that straight bolt, but now like it. I am guessing that it was an extreme cold weather idea for use with those arctic style mittens like the type we were issued in Germany in the 1960's, I have also figure out that it is to a degree a kind of speed bolt as you can chamber and eject much quicker than the turned down style by just the use of your palm so if your fingers are frozen, broken or missing, you're still in the game!

As a lefty with lanky arms, I enjoy the straight bolt. Makes it a lot easier for me to reach over the receiver to rack another round. I do prefer the looks of the bent bolt, however.

Good day Thanks for the video. I recently purchased one of these 30.06 Mauser rifles and found a fantastic book on the subject. I further cross-referenced to a second book ( let me know if you are interested in the titles and will follow-up) I learned production was 10,000 and that the rifles were coated for rust protection (an industrial steel coating being used on civil projects too) Mine had the coat of arms ground off and the cleaning rod was not coated. I further learned that many of these rifles were refurbished prior to being surplussed. I’d appreciate another video showing the chamber area and further detail on the standings. Great Mauser rifle and very low production numbers. Treasure your rifle and have a great day.

I own one of them (40 years) , and I customised it pretty well, one of the best rifles I have ever had. I’m told that mine was made for the US Naval reserve. I believe this is the reason for the grey finish , it is a very tough finish and I assume this is for resistance to salt.

1903 clips can be substituted for Swedish Mauser clips

How I clean it
@nick_a912 жыл бұрын
don't quote me on this, but I imagine it's close enough to the other mauser rifles that you could viably follow the steps to clean those and apply them to the FN 98

I am going to make a video about the history and battles of the Colombian Mauser in service since many people believe that these rifles did not see action when in reality these rifles are the bloodiest Mausers since they were given to the conservative army and with these they killed many innocent people just because they believed they were from the liberal party, so the people began to arm themselves and that's how the guerrilla began

30-06 is actually slightly shorter than 8x57mm. 30-06 is actually 7.62x56 And I do believe some KAR98K's were rechambered in 30-06 and alot more were rechambered in 7.62x51 as well by Israel.
@lesgallivan41593 жыл бұрын
30-06 case is longer, 8x57 bullet is loaded longer resulting in the 30-06 being about .045 thousands longer . Metric designation for 30-06 is 7.62x63

Worst*. Clearly you know nothing if you think anything from FN is the worst. There's a reason they're known as one of the top firearm manufacturers in the world
