You need to remake this video as Handl Defense is having lots of issues and may no longer be in business. Also, you missed one of the most essential add on attachments - such as KBA Custom SCAR 17S Muzzle Shoulder Ring $32.00 that fits at the end of the barrel to be able to fit on other manufactures Muzzle Brakes and Flash Hiders. Needed it to fit on my OSS Suppressor. Keep up your excellent reviews Chris and passing on of knowledge to us! You are much appreciated...

Great video. Very in-depth. Recently bought a SCAR-17. Love that there's so many after-market accessories but for my needs I am fine keeping it stock. Just threw a Trijicon VCOG 1-6 and Magpul AFG-2 on it. Thanks for the videos.

Yep, the new NRCH version w/ LPVO and VFG/AFG suppressed seems to be a good way to go. Battle rifle fire power, close to DMR accuracy, lightweight and compact like an intermediate caliber are the features of SCAR17. I don't understand why some people just dump money to make it into an expensive pig(other than competition).

In July 2004, in a full and open competition, nine vendors submitted twelve different designs for the three new weapon systems. Unlike the competition, FN delivered a new weapon built to the operator’s requirements-not adapted to them. The FN SCAR® submission passed all of the GO/NO-GO criteria and was unanimously chosen by the selection board composed of senior SOF operators representing every selection component. In November of the same year, FN was awarded the full FN SCAR® contract for both 5.56mm and 7.62mm rifles, along with the 40mm Enhanced Grenade Launcher Module (EGLM). Developmental testing by FN designers, engineers and operators from various branches of the U.S. Military to evaluate the new weapons’ endurance, reliability and accuracy was conducted from August 2005 through January 2006. Four Early User Assessments were also conducted prior to, during and after the developmental testing process to integrate operator feedback into the final FN SCAR® design.

Outstanding video . I love both of my Scar 16 and 17. I will look into replacing the lower on the 17 to address magazine issues of cost, availability and durability.

@SmallArmsSolutions Chris, I have to say you've REALLY been listening to the feedback from your viewers. I've unsubscribed to just about every other gun channel after seeing your content over the last month. You're doing in depth reviews of what the people want. Exotics like the SCAR and going over some of the more popular clone rifles. I think the gun world under appreciates your knowledge of so many different platforms. Thanks for doing this so I can watch these after my wife falls asleep, lol.

12:15 the KDG stock is not a copy, just an ACR stock with an adapter. The screw thread deformation issue you refer to occurs on the factory stock, as well (and it doesn't take long to see it). The issue is the thin Aluminum threaded trunnion that FN used at the rear of the rifle. A cheap and easy fix to strengthen it is just Heli-coil the threads on the 4 side screw holes (of the trunnion, not receiver). The screws won't actually break and cause a failure regardless, but this will fix the cosmetic issue of having tilted screw heads.

If I ever want to know about a firearm, simply watch SAS. Always thought the SCAR started out as a 7.62 Nato rifle then scaled down to 5.56. Now I know better and the SCAR started out as a 5.56.

Absolutely amazing gun!! You just need to replace...the lower, the hand guard, the trigger, the rear stock, the safety selector, the gas ports, oh, and charging handle. Oh aaand the magazines. But other then those (gulp) few things, it's great!! 😂😂 Just buy the upper and barrel throw the rest out. Here I the the KAC 110 was outrageous. To have a SCAR 17 up and running right it's only gonna cost $30,000 and a lot of gun smithing. Or you can just buy a 110 and skip the smithing?

I know its an older video, but, here in 2022, been debating on purchasing either the scar 17 or waiting forever for an LMT 308. Binged watched a ton of videos on this scar here in the past week and was almost sold on it, plus, it's available. I did not know they initially built this 17 out of the 16. Initial cost and all that you must consider to buy aftermarket to help make it better in those weaker areas, i don't think so. Too much add ons to make it better. Thank you so very much for the video. I learned many things.
@Jacob-vc1lj2 жыл бұрын
I’m gonna keep it straight. Right now for the money you spend and the quality of rifle you get you’re probably better off going for the lmt. It can do anything the scar can do and then a little for similar price. That being said I absolutely love the scar platform and if I had the money to choose I’d pick it up. It’s a different platform from your normal ar-15/ar-10 and has some advantages and disadvantages, and most of all it just looks kickass. I’m not one to tell you how to spend your money, but that’s just how I look at it.
@ridnthawave7082 жыл бұрын
@@Jacob-vc1lj Thanks for the reply! Yeah, that seems to be the consensus most times I read anything on comparisons between the scar and an AR-10. A lot of "pros" on leaning towards the scar, is it looks. Another idea that I came up with this week while considering both the LMT and Scar, is the availability for parts. If it has been this long of a wait for the rifle itself, could you imagine if you need a certain part? How long will it take to find and replace something major? I don't know if the scar is same way, but, you never know. Anyways. Thanks for your comment....
