The basis of my thinking comes from FNAF custom night, specifically withered Bonnie, "What is this new prison? Is it me trapped? Or is it you? Perhaps it's us both." By this point in the FNAF timeline, Cassidy has been focused on vengeance and nothing else for decades. I believe she got lost in the desire for revenge, and not wanting to miss Afton, grabbed every soul that was supposed to be freed in the FNAF 6 fire. Just for William. I believe the redeeming soul was more Charlie, the puppet. Michael and Charlie worked together to make Happiest Day happen, and while in FNAF world, Golden Freddy is trying to set up happiest day, it is possible that Cassidy believed William was dead, or that freeing herself from Crying Child would allow her to more fully take revenge on William, without CC getting in the way.
