The Hantek will read low DC voltages pretty accurately in DVM mode, once you connect it directly through low resistance bnc and you adjust the measuring range (scale that can be seen in the DVM panel) to what you’re measuring, by turning the Volts/DIV knob. That range is not documented in the manual, but works great to get more precise measurements. Software 1.0.1.1.0 Firmware 3202.

Hey Werner, sorry for this late reply but I don't know why your comment was marked as "Held for review" and only noticed it now. Several users pointed out that the Hantek works ok with low voltages if you regulate it manually instead of using the auto. So, I understand that it is a problem the auto is not working properlly but the bottom line is the oscilloscope is able to read correctly low voltages if you do it manually. I have to upgrade mine, but have to confess that don't have much time now... thanks for watching and your comment! 👍

Thanks Hugo. Very helpful analysis on all three oscilloscopes. As a mature aged student, I was considering the three mostly because of cost. I was initially thinking of an entry Siglent but they start at about 400AUD. After watching your analysis, I think I’ll spend the extra money for a higher quality oscilloscope mostly to avoid confusion when conducting experiments due to limitations/ inaccuracies that you’ve discovered with your tests. Excellent honest review. Thanks again. Craig

Hi, I will release this week a video of the CDEK SDS1102X, is currently on AliExpress between 126€ to 144€. As a spoiler, it is a real 100Mhz 1GSa/s oscilloscope, with all the percs and much faster than the SDS1104 on this video. I was really amazed. It is made by owon, is rebrand and is a total bargain, you can have it by the price of a handheld device. It should be online this fridary, take a look in the video. If you don't want to spend much, this might be a good deal. If you have the €€€/$$$ for a better equipment, it's always a good investment something with a better name. Thanks for watching.

Hi Hugo, thanks for the video and massive effort - entertaining as always, and looking forward to the next one! I have some feedback on the measurements you performed. I had to go and double-check my Hantek 2D15 after your video. I am a hobbyist and still learning, and I have learnt something today thanks to you! Firstly I was thrilled to see my Hantek measures DC voltage very accurately, all the way down to 50mv. In order for this oscilloscope to get accurate DC voltage measurements you need 2 things: 1) Do NOT use the Auto button because it sets the vertical scale too high which severely affects the reading; 2) Manually lower the vertical scale by a lot to get accurate readings. I will explain the second point: If you measure within the 10 V range, set the vertical scale to 1V/division or less and scroll down to bring the signal into view. Or, if you measure

Hello! Yeah this one took me a lot of effort, took one week to record and assemble and record again and so on... and only this week I went to bed 3 times near 4am, but all that is with a lot of goodwill and I am really happy if this videos help someone to decide what to buy, electronics is a very expensive hobby and I target my videos to hobbyist like me, to explain the maximum so you can do a informed decision when buying. Regarding your post and the info in it, it is huge help. Of course that the AUTOSET should work, Owon didn't have any issue with it, my Rigol also, but due to the price and the number of features in it, I think it deserves some slack... 😁 I am thinking to do a follow up video with some teardown, the questions and suggestions you guys gave me, yeah I think it will happen. I have more than 30 kits to assemble (those kits will be to the "Projects" part of the channel), but with these reviews I haven't had the time yet to start assembling them... I will start with those in september. It can't be all oscilloscopes, theres no budget that can handle so much equipment. The next videos will appear only in beggining of september, taking 2 weeks to rest and get some sun 😎 Thank you so much for your watching, support and to take the time to write this fantastic comment! lalu225, I just received my "HANTEK 2D15" today. VERY excited! I was wanting to ask you a question, if you don't mind? You stated that you installed the latest firmware update, from 3000 to 3102. I checked and my firmware is 3000 as well. After updating your firmware, did you have any issues? Also, did you notice some improvement to the overall function of your "2D15"? I ask, just to make sure there are no issues with the latest firmware, before I update mine. MANY thanks for your time! Patrick
@lalu2253 жыл бұрын
@@FordSeniorMaster Hi Patrick, no worries thanks for asking. In short, no issues after the update and I haven't noticed any improvements. Having said that, I performed the update the day after receiving the unit, and I did not play enough with it beforehand to notice any change (nor did I have enough competence to notice, to be honest). I tested many combinations of firmware & software and decided to stick to the one that gave me a stable waveform from the internal function generator at a high frequency. With some combinations of firmware & software, the unit did not acquire the signal well, so I used this criterion to evaluate. The unit is very robust to software updates, I probably changed it 10 times. HOWEVER, before updating make sure you follow the guidelines posted by DavidAlfa on the EEVblog forum. The title of the post is "Hantek DSO2x1x models: firmware updates and best use practices". This user created a comprehensive guide and a repository of files. 3102 is not the latest firmware but the latest firmware that works on units with a base firmware of 3000. Whatever update you make, play it safe, and don't update to a firmware greater than 3102. Or just leave it as it is until you discover a bug and then you'll have a good reason to perform an update. Beware that some software updates will change your firmware. You'll find all the details on the forum. Hope this helps.

I went to check and you're right, it was delivered with a PP-150 100Mhz probe, so this is kind of shot in the foot from Hantek. @@TechCornerTV Don't get me wrong it's a great video and I appreciate your effort. You don't actually need to teardown these devices, as in your case, a black box test tells all. Why am I concerned with the bandwidth? Because all Chinese manufacturers lie about it and the sampling rate. It's actually pretty straightforward task to determine the sampling frequency without opening the box and checking the fake chips. I have also noticed the noise levels are also different. Just little suggestions so you don't run out of ideas in your upcoming videos.

You can get a used, older, traditional scope for the cost of one of these, or less. Remember, "Old Tektronix scopes never die, they just get repaired." And there's NOTHING these scopes can do, that the old ones can't (except the FFT. But a REAL spectrum analyzer is SO much better!). And it's easier to use the knobs and buttons of a traditional scope, than memorize and use all the complicated menu procedures.

This is a big question and a big ask perhaps but I'm looking to get into experiments with dual frequencies, in low to high volt (20,000) Pulsed emf results in various coils like rodin coils, abha coils and stuff like that. I'm having trouble figuring out what I need, and what is the minimum gear I need for it. I've been looking at al sorts of function generators, and pwm's, I'm still getting to grips with some of the stuff but overwhelmed too, there seems to be carious ways to set this up but high volt dc stuff...not really finding much in the budget range. Can you help me out here and suggest some still semi budget gear that would fit my requirements. Tho, the higher volt 70,000 singing tesla coils and stuff is drawing my interest too. And though I may be new to it, I understand the risks but would be following tutorials and such for probably a good lot of months until all the safety stuff was ingrained in me, but i'm not finding others experimenting with high volt and coils, if they're playing with coils, its usually much less voltage. So, if you can suggest and online courses or channels that go in to this I would appreciate it.

Hi, first of all, really ashamed for replying so late, but life got in the way and I have a lot of comments to catchup. Hi, depends on you budget. If we're talking about $250/250€ for accuracy in this low level entry devices, I'll go with Owon, maybe Hantek if you need something with a lot of functions like protocol decoder and function generator all in one. If we're talking over this value, we have some Rigols that are good machines and have some models in the 300€ near almost 400€, with a lot of functions also and it gives you a more stable quality of product. Over this price you have a lot of options, siglent, rigol or even higher models of Owon that are awesome units for the price. Lower that $250, you have FNIRSI, pretty easy to use but not the top of the bunch in features or sometimes quality, but the support works very well. I know they are working on a 4 channels oscilloscope, maybe it will released this year. That's one that I would like to test to see if it improved since theirs 1014D bench oscilloscope. You have also the Owon's portable in this price range, but that a differente product. Bellow $100 you have only portables, Zeeweii DSO2512G was my choice. 2 channels, function generator, av output, 120mhz... can't beat this on something like $90. Hope this helped.

Apparently there are these FNIRSI scopes in the wild, this model, from about that era when you might have bought it, where the frontend is stuck in AC coupling mode, regardless of what the digital part thinks it's at and trying to set it to, because they soldered in the optocoupler that drives the relay rotated by 180 degrees, the wrong way around! Do you think yours has this fault, and it is the one you gave away? By all reason the relay should click when you change coupling mode.
@TechCornerTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Siana, I do think I received a messed up unit, but it's not that problem of the inverted octocouplers, FNIRSI contacted me about this issue to check my unit, we did some tests and it was ok. But, other than that, I really had some issues with it... I gave my unit on a giveaway not knowing of this issues, well I bought the oscilloscope to review and offer, so I didn't know then. But after all the viewers comments I saw, it not hard to figure it out that something might be wrong. Thanks for watching. 👍

@@TechCornerTV Thanks for helping me with my scope purchase decision, whenever it may come, probably really soon. At best, even regardless of spotty manufacturing and firmware issues, it doesn't seem to reach the true analogue bandwidth of the other scopes in this price category, and if their older devices are anything to go by, probably undersamples and aliases quite a bit more than others - while the price is attractive, the other two only come up 20% more expensive and the companies have a history of actual measurement device experience. I don't really doubt that FNIRSI will get there eventually, the way things go, but probably not with this model, and also likely not quite at this price point, ultimately there is an inherent cost to getting things done properly. I would really appreciate if such a device could be a community project with open firmware and at least hardware schematics - it would make me lean heavily towards it even with hardware drawbacks. Miniware is such a company but the specs are outright insufficient.

@@SianaGearz You're right, it is a pitty that the miniware doesn't have a bit more juice in it, because it will be a killer in the small oscilloscope market. But again, the market positioning of opening the souce code to anyone is something awesome and they deserve all our support.

Between this FNIRSI 1014D model and the FNIRSI DPOX180H, which one do you think has better accuracy at higher frequencies? And which one would you recommend for someone learning electronics?
@TechCornerTV Жыл бұрын
Hello, I tested the 1014D as soon it was released, since then it might get some better components that make it more accurate. The DSOX180H is my all time small oscilloscope, closelly followed by the Zeeweii DSO2512G and now the DSO3D12 (I have reviews on both of them) and the last one even has a voice assistent. They are different products, the fact of having a desktop oscilloscope, gives you a better platform to work. In terms of features the other models I mentioned, have more features and are in general more accurate. To learn, the 1014D, to keep for the following years, one of the mentioned models, have a smaller screen, but more features and more accuracy. Thanks for watching.

Hi! How is it now with Hantek's firmware? Did something changed since August, 2021? Did you've used DS02D10 in your work? Some people tells that it's processor or/and PSU can get very hot. One guy (on Ali) did wrote the comment that his device got burnt (the PSU). I'm leaning to buy Hantek but that message wasn't "happy" or motivating to me.

Hi! They had some updates, I didn't update mine yet, I'll do a howto video a soon on the update and after the "real" bandwidth using the rise time method. In terms of usage and if it gets hot, yes it gets. As any normal oscilloscope, if you get to much trouble about it, it probably be a good idea to add a fan, you have everything in place, just missing the fan, but there are some videos here on YT showing how you can add a fan to it. Anyway, I manage to crash it not by the heat but some other issues. In terms of heat I had it working for like 5 to 6 hours without major issues, but I think that might be because I work at night when is fresher. If you work during the day on a harm country, maybe it is a bigger issue. Anyway, thanks for watching and your comment. If you decide to buy one please consider using the links on the video description, it will help a lot the channel! Cheers! 👍

Hey Rick! I went back to the workbench after reading your comment and connected again the 2D10 to the power supply to measure the voltage again. I was able to get a 110mV to a 100mV signal, that is well way more near than I had during the video recording and for a 10mV signal, I had a reading of 25mV. I thing this oscilloscope heats a lot or have some issue like that (as I told in the video it freezed a couple of times), because now I just power it up and was reading these values, even with autoset, and when recording I have it powered on for several hours and the results where all over the place. Bottom line, it depends om your wallet and needs, for example I don't have the need for a function generator, so Owon accuracy is more important to me. There isn't a right answer here, they're both oscilloscopes (for the price) and you'll be ok with any of them. I have purchased the hantek 6022BL and when it arrived I suddenly realised that it has NO AC COUPLING while the 15 € more expensive one OWON had it on board beyond more bandwith which also a lot claimed fake on the Hantek with its 20 Mhz promised and real world measurements just showed about 1 Mhz instead of 20 Mhz promised. That being said I like the hscope android software, how reliable it connects to an old android 6 tablet with 8 inch screen and how well it runs - for over 3 hours the cheap 100€ full metal build ifive mini tablet is able to power itself and the hantek oscilloscope but in the end could not provide 230V ac coupling needed for checking solar power inverters and their purity sine wave output. So yea, awesome job Hugo. - can you make a new review video on the Hantek unit but after installing the two heatsinks and a fan (maybe put that process in the same video). - I read somewhere that the probes that come with these cheap units are junk. Have you tried to use "good" probes with them and if so, does it help to get more accurate results? - Can you suggest or link to better probes we should get when we purchase any of these units? Maybe something that is budget friendly for us hobbyists, but still give better performance then the ones you get with the scope? Same question for both 100Mhz and 150Mhz probes. - is there a accuracy difference between the Hantek 100Mhz and 150Mhz versions? If the cost was the same, would the 150Mhz version be the better choice to get? Maybe ask Hantek if they can send you the 150Mhz version to do a side by side test??? - it's been almost a month since you made this video. Is there newer firmware/software that has been released that would fix the problems or add more features to the Hantek models? Thanks again and much love from Canada !!

I do intend to do a video how to upgrade from 100Mhz to 150Mhz... but only in the end of testing everything because if something goes wrong I already filmed everything I need with the oscilloscope. 5) new firmware update, a lot of viewers say to upgrade only if you have to because sometimes is worst, so I am kind of divided here, but anyway, I was saving this also for a new video (total of 2). Again thank you for watching and kudos to Canada from Portugal! 👍

I will stay only between one of those two options. I hope, I answered you question. Thanks for watching and your comment. 👍

Hi great video. About the FNIRSI 1014D I just saw couple of videos and testing, and it did not get a good review at all, can't get up to 100mhz more like 20 or 30 ish, same for sampling. I am starting and checking to get a good one to start, but don't want to get crap for my money . Will go for the Hantek dsI2d10 100 mhz, and will try to upgrade to 200 lol. So for a couple of reviews I saw, the 1014d is a stay away from. Just my 2 cents again I am a newbee lol

Hi, you're not wrong on what you said. I have a few videos on the DSO2x1x series and you can find in one the videos, can't recall now in which one, how to do the model "upgrade", just a hint 😁 If you're considering buying it, give the channel some love and use the affiliate link in the description! Thanks for watching and your kind comment!

@@TechCornerTV Will do !!!! Now considering a 4 channel as might need more then 2 samples. Was going for the Owon sds1104 but has only 20k for definition or depth. Saw many have 10M or 14m so still looking.

Hi Mike, I agree with you. It was a bit slower in some cases, but much more precise/accurate in the measurements. Even with the last hantek firmware updates, owon still has more accurate readings. FNIRSI is not even in the same league. Thanks for watching! 👍

Thank you for your work in analyzing these three oscilloscopes. Forst and foremost, I learned one thing: at this price level, you get what you pay for. Very inaccurate and unreliable. I think the chips and finetuning in these instruments are just too cheaply made. I will therefore not buy ne of these. I will have to look for something better as my first oscilloscope. Thank you a lot for you work. Kind regards.

Hey Jacques, I share your opinion to a point, Owon seemed more reliable than the rest of the bunch, but I think it will not be able to provide the 100Mhz bandwidth also. I will test that soon in a new video with a fast edge signal generator and the rise time method. Unfortunetely (well for this test, a big luck for the giveway winner) I gave the FNIRSI 1014D on one of the channel giveaways, but I'm sure that will not be able to get to 100Mhz mark. The remaining will enter in a new video were I will test them all. But the rule is and here you're totally right, you got what you pay for. Thanks for watching and your comment! 💪👍

Hantek 2d15 radiates harmonics in front for about 0.5 m and 5 cm in back. Can not use to adjust IF radio. New firmaware did not help. Anyway can not know what improvements the new firmware supose to correct because Hantek did not say. This is a sign that they are not profi. Any new firmware should have a record about what problem will solve.

If one of my scopes were as inaccurate as the FNIRSI or Hantek, I wouldn't attempt to calibrate it...I'd troubleshoot it, and find and replace the defective component!
@TechCornerTV2 жыл бұрын
Hey Clyde, yes I understand what you're saying. But most of the times it is a firmware problem and for that, the only way is the manufacturer release a new firmware. The other point is, the idea of the video is what would you get as it is delivered from the factory, to show what comes from the factory and compare them all. Thanks for watching! 👍

@@TechCornerTV These Chinese companies are using their customers for :field testing"! In the past, no respectable company, like Tek or H-P (or even Heathkit or Eico), would have released a product for sale, with so many bugs.

found your video on the FNIRSI 1014D i am looking to buy my first scope. Am confused if I should get the FNIRSI or the Hantek DSO5102P_N or the DSO2D10 they are all about the same price point. What is the scope model you use as reference on top. I think you called it a Rigol.

Please think about the adjustments of the probes. As higher the frequency, the more influence has a proper adjustment. When you would exchange the both probes, I guess the more weak channel for higher frequencies would also change. Like someone before mentioned, I would prefer to see high frequencies rectagular signals for a better overview. But in principle, I'm fine with your videos 👍.

@TechCornerTV Жыл бұрын
Hi, as I concluded, is not a yes or no answer. It depends, if you usage has tolerance to a small error margin in the mV area and you want a complete package of features, Hantek all the way. If you value more precision and accuracy even if you will have less features, Owon. If you have no budget for any of the other two, but want a bench oscilloscope with some quality but very light on features or functions available, FNIRSI. See what fits your case and you'll have a winner! Thanks for watching!
