Unfortunately, they are using 20 year old equipment and only searching for simple old-style analog transmitters. Such devices may still be out there and may be functional, but their techniques would do nothing to help find cellular, wifi, or digital transmissions that are more common today. Also, finding a device by using a scanner is really hit-or-miss, unless you know the exact frequency - which could mean maybe you put it in yourself. There are thousands of possible frequencies. I expect FNN helped to prepare a good show. It does help to highlight the threat, but in order to be thorough, modern techniques are much more complex, especially where business espionage is concerned.
