You know your horses so well and I just really enjoy watching you walking among them saying which foal with which mare and then also who was the stud. Do you ever switch mares to different stallions or typically keep same mares with particular stallion? You are breeding some beautiful quarterhorses! I watch PDR channel with Danielle and Henson faithfully. My favorite! and now get to enjoy your channel too :)
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
Some mares stay with the same stallion. Because I really like the foals. Some I switch around trying to find the magic. We have a great team with lots of input. Thanks for the question.

Good lookin' babies .. built to work. They look smart and inquisitive. The palomino trigger colt has a gorgeous head, Star Gazer's filly going to be a really nice horse. That chestnut filly is built to the max.

Those cattle would probably sell on here with a name and a price. That mic still needs behind a wind break of some kind most loud when heading into the wind , some are posted colts but don't know if you are talking about sold colts or colts available for market.
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
Most colts are sold before they are born. I don’t like to list prices unless asked directly. I don’t mind chatting and prefer to do it that way.
@3334-n7s2 жыл бұрын
good answer and did expect and respect privacy especially to the colts I buy.

Hi, may I ask when you wean your foals and how? This is my first time, and I will have to do by myself as my hubby just had a fall and broke his thigh and hip. I trust your advice. Ty you all for sharing your life, very fun to watch.
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
We probably would do it different than you. We separate and put on full feed for a few months then return them to a small pasture where we can monitor them daily.

I would appreciate it if you could describe the colors, and I know it's vag in some areas like bay roan chestnut roan etc thanks Jim, I love the colors that over lap, like the gray or blue roans,
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
I will try to do that.

I could watch you call out the foals, mares and stallions all day long. How often do you see a foal that is really special that you decide to keep on the ranch?
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
I think they all fit that category for me. Love them all.
@bonniemott91192 жыл бұрын
Answer of a true horseman that loves his animals how wonderful it's so great to have a job that you love doing and seeing that down what comes from it how satisfying that must be I think the Lord we still have farmers and ranchers willing to step up and do the hard work and I so appreciate you filming these videos for us to watch and see what goes on behind the scenes and I just I just so appreciate it thank you so much

Are you keeping some of these fillies by the nice older studs?

Jerry how to the how's and horses drink that muddy water in the tanks, do they really like it? or do they drink it out of pure desperation? I know this might be kind of dumb question sorry. duh.
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
They actually prefer water from the pond. There is spring water at the corral if they choose. So they pick
@janegibby88212 жыл бұрын
Are these mares broke to ride?
@jheartquarterhorsesaz2 жыл бұрын
Most of them have a 90 days as a 2 year old. Some will have a lot more. Some I bought that were not even halter broke, they are great mares that produce outstanding foals.
@melhooker5207 ай бұрын
It sure looks like there's not enough food there for those horses to exist on
