I have never been under the delusion that the foam cannon by itself could remove anything more than pollen and dust from my neighbor's lawn mower. What I do like about it, is the same thing I like about a quality shave soap. It gives an added "padding" and lubrication to the wash mitt that you just can't get from dipping the mitt in a bucket of soapy water. I've seen other channels advertise a "touch free" wash with a foam cannon. Maybe on your show car that gets driven 3 times a year, but on a daily driven car, there is just no way foam alone will keep it clean. Even with these miracle coatings that repel dirt, you just can't do it without some means of agitation.

Thats true if you use PH neutral garbage.
@shawnbond19756 жыл бұрын
I'm beginning to think nothing cleans better than a finger. Lol. But seriously, most of these chemicals perform as if they're nothing more than a lubricant for a mitt. The wet mitt does 95% of the work. Agree, disagree?
@videomaniac1085 жыл бұрын
I would have to agree with you, sadly. It was a goal of mine to develop a completely touch-free wash process for my newly coated black car, but that may not be doable.
@rileyneufeld70015 жыл бұрын
That's 90% of soaps job anyways. They are supposed to be a lubricant that allows you to swipe a mitt on the surface without scratching it. I find it funny that expensive car soaps claim so much yet it's just another soap that isn't going to clean the panel for you. Finding a soap that will break down dirt/traffic film/tar and who knows what else while being safe on clear coat and plastics is the goal and is probably impossible.

I see this is an old video Scott, but I am in the mechanized car wash business and own several touch free washes. We have to use a super high alkaline detergent to get cars clean, and then we only have a 90-95% success rate. Touch free works fine with a person that washes every 7-14 days. If it's been longer than that our success rate drops dramatically. If the alkalinity drops in our presoak due to a problem we see it right away because the cars don't come clean. Neutral PH detergents are just show in the real world.

This is the first auto detailing program that has highlighted that most of the spray on material is a waste of money and will not completely clean your car. you will still have to do a hand wash after. The only advantage to snow foam is while its still on the car it kind of gives a lubricant to your wash cloth and hopefully less swirl marks.

Based on your videos, if you get traffic film, maintenance washes require an alkaline soap that can take away traffic film - though it also removes some or all of the wax. Then always reapply wax.

When removing traffic film and before a fresh start I like to first spray on a tar remover like meguiars heavy duty bug and tar remover because it clings or mckees 37 road kill bug remover let it dwell rinse off then spray down again with apc of some kind doesn't matter as long as it's highly alkaline then in my wash bucket I also put apc with a wash soap solution to wash the car as the previously sprayed apc is still on the panels

If you need to get clean down to the wash, and you have oily residue what about using a grease cutting detergent like Dawn? I usually hand wash my SUV and have an inline soap/detergent dispenser that I use with a hose end sprayer that has a mist setting that leaves more cleaning product on the paint longer than a hand pump sprayer. I don't wash the paint very often, but can usually get the paint clean of everything visible except water streaking with just hose pressure car soap and very little water overall. That makes the hand wash with microfiber a much easier job with less bending and stretching. I claybar twice a year and after washing that off, use McGuaiars Paint Protect.

my foam cannon works in my world because my 93 supra only ever sees 100 miles a month. snowfoam I use for maintenance wash only for apply supper suds to the surface! my Toyota has a quality show wax applied. if you have something with zero protection on it and wash it once every month or more, use a tfr or apc strong mix. if your car has a wax or sealent applied, use a snowfaom wash ph neutral of course ,
@hbi19943 жыл бұрын
What about for contact wash on a ceramic coated vehicle to presoak, apply very low concentration of APC to break down contaminants, rinse off, foam cannon with high suds ph neutral soap to pick up any remaining contaminants loosened by APC, contact wash, rinse, dry, apply protectant/sealant (spray on wax, quick detailer, whatever) to preserve till next wash and/or layer on top of ceramic coating till next time APC is used and allow for stripping of protectant rather than the coating itself? Same process used for touchless maintenance wash minimizing/minus APC altogether...?

I'm just old school - Wet the vehicle with a hose, then use a 28 oz. pump sprayer with dawn and spray the panel - I use a wash mitt and continue to spray w/the soppy mixture. If the car is that bad - who cares if I take off the .05 % of remaining wax! I'm going to re-wax it any way - then rinse and then clay bar + Iron remover - DA with compound then wax. - Even if it's POS I still care about my vehicles.

You said it all in your very first sentence of this video., This is your dump truck. You probably had very little if any recent, durable protection on the paint. If you did, that would have cleaned off pretty easily. So the moral of the story: keep protection on your car and keep it supplemented often and you will not have to use super clean to stress out your clear coat. It's why we all need detailing. Period, End of story

Dallas Paint Correction & Auto Detailing so what’s your suggestion? Purple power every time?
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83437 жыл бұрын
if you have traffic film on your car you have to decide what you value..i only use purple power vehicle and boat wash if i have traffic film on my vehicle or its driven in the rain since i washed it last..here in dallas i can go WEEKS without seeing rain so sometimes i will just use a traditional car soap for those cases...traffic film can't be removed with water and a ph neutral soap...so i make sure i do with using a soap with surfactants that will remove traffic film..because if you leave traffic film on the car even if you think you have removed it with a traditional car soap it will crawl into the clear coat and cause damage that will look like paint that has oxidized:)

Hey Scott, have you tried Auto Finesse Avalanche? Its a citrus-infused foaming shampoo that removes traffic film and will not remove any wax or sealants
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83437 жыл бұрын
i have tried it...but here is the point..if you have traffic film on your car, and we all do specially if you have driven through the rain..that traffic film (motor oil,transmission fluid,brake fluid,radiator fluid) has already eaten through your wax or sealant on the bottom of the vehicle....so why overthink it and buy something LSP safe if your removing TRAFFIC FILM from the car....once the wax or sealant has been compromised on the lower part of the vehicle from harsh chemicals and pollution splashing up from the highway you will notice the wax or sealant begin to break down quickly around the vehicle....but auto finesse makes great products but on a vehicle like this on the video i don't overthink it....and trust me a lot are driving around like this in the real world of auto detailing and providing a service for the public....i think the only ones who really care about LSP safe products are die hard car enthusiast or professionals taking care of customers vehicles on a weekly basis or perhaps every 30 days...the average public could careless, they just want clean and shiny:)..they don't lose sleep over the wax on their car:)

I like foaming but I guess I have to accept it doesn't do the job - but it might soften things up more than going straight in with the mit? - what happened with "W"?
@sebastianb50366 жыл бұрын
That's the very same reason I use foam. It softens things up by letting the foam, which is basically water with air in it stick to surfaces where pure water will otherwise just run off. After foaming, ideally the pressure washer will remove most contamination. This results in less scrubbing and pushing dirt around - therefore less scratching. I've seen people who foam the car and then use their wash mitt on the foam. That doesn't offer any benefit or may be even harmful because foam doesn't necessarily offer the same lubrication as a pure car shampoo. One has to rinse the foam of before contact wash.

Hallo folks
@richardkkirk7 жыл бұрын
Scott the foam cannon is only a means of getting a decent cleaning solution to sit on the surface of the car a little longer than it just running off, and to be honest that jet wash you are using is pretty poor...i I use a pure tfr to clean the bottom half of the car as my pre wash , i'll get the pump sprayer walk around the car then as soon as i hit my start point i'll jet wash it all off, it usually removes at least 90% of all the crap...cheers for the videos though..i have watched a few..lol
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83437 жыл бұрын
in the real world of auto detailing a foam cannon is a waste of time and money...but for others it could be the best thing they have ever used...the truck in this video has not been washed in over 6 months and filled with motor oil,transmission fluid,brake fluid and coolant....no prewash without agitation will remove the said fluid off the panel and even after agitation you will still need to take another step to truly have virgin clear coat...enjoy your foam cannon my friend:)
@richardkkirk7 жыл бұрын
Scott, i never said it would totally clean the surface of the car that is why i use it as a pre wash.....i totally understand where your coming from regarding washing the truck mate, i just use the cannon to help the product stay on the side of the truck a little longer to help it to break down the crap, to make the hand wash less likely to inflict damage.
@dallaspaintcorrectionautod83437 жыл бұрын
i so understand..i think the only people worried about damage are pro detailers when they talk with one another..in the real world about 80% of daily drivers are scratched to living hell and most of those same individuals don't care and don't ask for paint correction...so why use a foam cannon and a two bucket wash with grit guards and ph balanced soaps?...just get to the point and remove the filth and grime:)...like i said thats the real world but yes those who care about their paint and enjoy paint correction and paint without defects,than being more gentle is vital.
