Great job and lots of good info. I am 72 and did a lot of body work on cars through the years. I too didn't wear a mask when doing quick small paint jobs. I have gone through cancer treatment for vocal cords and had a total laryngetomy and radiation treatments. Don't want anyone else to have to go through this..... So just a heads up.. Wish I had the advice 40 years ago. I'm a perfectionist, so I appreciate your hard work, advice and great videos. Rod

Thanks for the tips! I have watched a bunch of different videos on panel lines. I am currently building a 1/7 scale f-100. Its more for fpv than scale (tired of the look of flying wings), but i wanted to add some panel lines. But most of the online tips are way too much work than i want to put into this plane. Your way seems a lot easier and forgiving.

Thanks for watching! Pencil works great for a quick and easy panel line assuming you have a hardened surface to draw over. And you can take it a step further by scribing should one choose. Panel lines using chart pack tape and primer coats and stuff like that are a pain.

Very nice. What acrylic do you use in your airbrush as a final coat? If you do mix your raw umber, what is your mixture of raw umber to thinner?
@Thercgeek
@Thercgeek Жыл бұрын
For clear coat, of late I’ve been using the rust oleum matte clear and am liking it quite a bit. Being in a spray can makes it really easy. On the raw umber, when I thin it, I don’t have a set ratio. Mostly just thin it to the consistency I need and that’s only if I’m airbrushing it. Most of the time when I’m applying streaks and such, I don’t thin it at all.

Hey dude, it s incredible the work. But i ve got a question. What do you spray in the minute 3:47 to protect the plane??
@Thercgeek
@Thercgeek 4 жыл бұрын
I sprayed a lacquer clear coat over the model to protect the panel lines for the weathering process. I sprayed it over the entire model again after all of the weathering was completed.

How long does it take you to finish a model like this
@Thercgeek
@Thercgeek 5 жыл бұрын
It really depends. For me, I tend to overthink everything and so it can take me a little longer to get a project done (not to mention family commitments taking precedence). Something like this can be done in as short as a few weeks up to a few months. It really depends on how much time is dedicated to working on it. You'll be surprised how quickly a project can be completed attacking it just little milestones at a time.

@@Thercgeek I want to take on a project like this but I can be quite fussy and don't want to over do things. Doing the panel lines and doing some fading I'm guessing would be a good start for me. Thanks for the response btw
@Thercgeek

I hear you. I can tend to get that way too. Start off a little at a time would be my recommendation.
