My grandmother used to set her hair at night, as long as I can remember. She passed in ‘06, but this takes me back to good times watching her do her hair at bedtime, and having a good chat ❤️

We had those same exact curlers when I was a little girl back in the 80’s. My mom would roll my hair with them for me. I would be so excited to see my curls the next morning.

Such beautiful curls! Every Saturday night after our baths my mother would put my hair and my sister’s hair in pink foam curlers! We would watch The Carol Burnett Show while she rolled our hair! Then in the morning we had pretty curls for church! Thanks for sharing this video! Beautiful!!!

I watched this and then realized my current “set” was not up to par, so I took it out and re rolled it the way you showed in this video! Here’s hoping it turns out half as good as yours! ❤️🤷♀️

I’m 50 and I used these rollers at night and then teased it out…finishing it with my Aqua Net hairspray in the 1980’s . My grandmother used the pink hard hot rollers set…she turns 90 next month and still has family members take her to the hairdresser a couple times a week to help her maintain her style even though she hardly goes out anymore outside of the independent living home where she has been for about 10 years ♥️…very vintage lady as well😍

I loved this video with the foam rollers! Oh my, brings back many memories. I still have "spoolies". Have you ever used the slim metal-like rollers/curlers? They have a skinny metal strip to hold them in place. A memory regarding these metal rollers/curlers: I was abt 8 yrs old & visiting my Grandparents in another state. Deciding to be a 'big-girl' proceeded to curl my own hair. Shortly afterwards my ears began to hurt & I started to cry. While my Grandma was comforting me, she noticed I had the tops of both ears bent over & trapped in those curlers. She took those curlers out. There was immediate relief. ❤Funny now, back then painful. Laci, you are a joy ❤

Love this look! Do you have any vintage styles that would be good for long hair? . (i know in the 50s most people had short hair) i do love the wave look so i will try that!

I had the pink foam rollers. They make curls! I was a rough sleeper and had a couple fall out during the night. My mom was always curling my hair! Love your kitty PJ.s

Just a pro tip, trying to help, if you want volume on that other side, roll the roller "on base". To do this before rolling comb the hair in the opposite direction to where the hair will sit (ie if it falls down brush it up), then roll the roller from that direction. This will set the volume in your hair and you may not need to back comb that part.

It's so nice that you are able to take a little constructive criticism! Too often people get offended & defensive, when someone makes a harmless suggestion. I think your style turned out beautifully; well explained with lots of great tips. I do agree that either a little less volume in your front roll or a little more volume on your other side would make this style perfect, but it's lovely nonetheless! Thank you for the very helpful tutorial. :) All the best, Krystal Skye

Please try just once , using stale beer to set your hair in these rollers. You will be soo surprised how long the set will last. The flax in the beer helps keep the curl longer than any store bought gel.

I tried this and my hair does not hold a curl. Used setting spray, lovely corkscrew curls when I removed the rollers, soon as I brushed it, it went straight again! I might need to accept I mightn't be able to have curly vintage hair. Milkmaid plaits it is!

Angela Anderson the first night I can usually just sleep on it as is and it looks basically the same. After that I just tie it up in my nylon scarf. I roll the back under and tie the scarf around. Hope that makes sense!
