Jackie's stick looked like antlers! The only way to make it fit was to break it up. Shadow sure worked hard at it. It was great to see them together in their nest and then settled for the night on their roost tree. Thanks for the rendezvous video, Cali.

Jackie always brings the Charlie Brown trees and the wonky sticks to the nest and shadow is always frustrated trying to help her position it. They act like an old married couple. She doesn’t want his help and he’s frustrated and standing by watching this is hilarious!

Basic question: How to distinguish male and female? I haven't been able to do it for months, sorry ! The female is supposed to be bigger, but I don't see any difference.

If you look at them side-by-side, Jackie clearly is larger than Shadow. There is a clear description on FOBBV’s page, but you can also tell by the shape of their heads: Jackie’s is flatter on top…

Depends on where they are. They used to band them in Big Bear Valley, but no longer.
