Anything would be better than self inflicted pain and potential blindness. I mean really? Sriracha under the eye lids? What ever happened to good old conversation? listening to music or an old fashioned show on a radio? It may be dull, but self harm isn't exactly worth the risk of injury for the sake curing boredom. My guess is Cadance didn't realize Twilight hadn't seen the stars. So caught up in the awe of them herself, when she saw Twilight she assumed she'd been there long enough to see it, just not get over to their group at the same time. And the tears? Likely assumed Twilight was so moved by the stars that she was in tears. It was only when reality slapped Cadance back to, well, reality, that she realized Twilight had only just gotten there, by which point, it was too late to diffuse the situation because Twilight had already started venting

Maybe, but I think that's just the result of someone not checking the script. incidentally, this wasn't the FIRST time that Twilights' parents haven't read over the fine print when it came to their daughter following her coronation; the last time was in the fic _Alicornundrum,_ the 3rd-installment of Reality Check's Nyxverse Series (A collective of fan works that follows the events of _Past Sins:_ where Nightmare Moon is reincarnated as an Alicorn Filly and is adopted by Twilight Sparkle as her daughter), however instead of it being Twilight Velvet that drops the ball with sound mind and body; it was actually Night Light after he got sloshed on tons of alcohol by Duke Blueblood following Twilights' Ascendancy and subsequent Coronation, the paperwork was a Marriage Contract that deeded Twilight Sparkle to Prince Blueblood; and the strings attached after Night Light got sober enough to find out what he just signed stipulated that if they tried to renege on the Marriage Contract; than the Sparkles would have to forfeit their Estate and all of their wealth for compensation. Long story short, Twilight Sparkle tried acting calm and rational about this; but Duke Blueblood kept pushing her buttons and threatening to send Nyx to a school abroad so Twilight would have no choice but to have a kid with Prince Blueblood... prompting Twilight to undergo her 4th Rage-Shift (the fiery mane and tail thing that was seen in _Feeling Pinkie Keen_ ) and strangulate Duke Blueblood from the chandelier... by his testicles. Followed shortly thereafter by all three approaching the throne to relay the events of what happened, and having The Royal Sisters simply laugh at the Marriage Contract outright ("we're the rulers of Equestria. We can sign a pardon for a _death sentence_ if we wish.") on top of this, the law dictates that ALL participants in the Marriage Contract must be of sound mind and body when signing: Night Light was smashed off his plot, and Twilight never put her name to the contract: thereby making the Marriage Contract null and void. However the Anullment Contract that Twilight had drafted up and presented to Duke and Prince Blueblood was airtight and indeed signed by both Twilight and Prince Blueblood; in-return of his father maintaining possession of his... "Family Jewels". Duke Blueblood tried to argue for the Marriage Contract to be maintained; unaware of the telltale signs that Celestia was closing in on her own rage-breaking point, at which point the Princess of The Sun herself underwent her own *_RAGE-SHIFT_* and read Duke Blueblood the riot act of what he was trying to commit: Contractural Fraud, Enslavement, Rape, Blackmail, and Treason; along with listing all of the punishments and penalties that were in-place for such crimes unless he agrees to the Anullment: *_"You will either spend the rest of your life imprisoned or you will be executed. I seriously doubt that we can execute you four times, but you never know. My judges are rather creative."_*

You know when Cadence rubs the northern star in Twilight's face? I like to imagine that as an example of how difficult and awkward collaborative work can be. Somewhere along the lines, the animators, voice actors, and writers *must* have imagined the scene differently. Maybe the writers didn't imagine that Twilight was so *obvious* in her crying, maybe the animators thought Cadence's dialogue would've been something more comforting, maybe the voice actors didn't realize the context behind their lines. It's fascinating to see how blatantly awkward that scene was, to a point where it is an actual BAD scene because it makes Cadence seem like such a jerk. If Twilight had just looked a tiny bit forlorn, or even had a weak, fake smile, maybe Cadence's line would've made more sense. If Cadence's line had been changed to something far more sympathetic, it might have made more sense. Heck, if they had just *removed* Cadence's line, imagine how much better the episode might have felt without that little thorn to come in and prick us near the end. Ultimately, just really interesting to think about since I've become more and more aware of how big a collaborative project animated shows can be. A+ to how the cruise ship patrons were written. Nothing mean spirited about it, just some awkward humor with delightful, appreciative fans underneath.

I've got two main issues with the perceived conclusions that Cadence and Shining Armor are horrible. I decided to wait a day before making a comment because I wanted to take some time to think things through because, again, it might just be a case that something was unclear in how this review was written which unfortunately rubbed me the wrong way. Which brings me first to Cadence. Specifically, the moment where she tells Twilight that the Northern Stars were breathtaking. This seems like an example of Hanlon's Razor: "Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by stupidity". The intent of Cadence saying that could have been lost in either how the script was written or how the animation was done. Or it could be an in-universe example: Cadence thought that Twilight had stood in the back after her last panel to watch the stars without disturbing other ponies' view so she didn't see the tears until it was too late, meaning she was insensitive on accident rather than setting out to ruin Twilight's night. The second thing is the ongoing almost fandom joke of "Why is Shining Armor captain of the guard again?", using the fights with Chrysalis and Sombra as examples. There are too many unknowns to rule out the idea that Shining Armor only lost those solo fights because he was handicapped in one way or another. In the case of the fight with Chrysalis, Chrysalis had been draining Shining Armor for who knows how long: We don't know when the lockdown of Canterlot went into effect and when Chrysalis imprisoned Cadence. Plus during Twilight's spying, we see Shining starting to break through Chrysalis's control ENTIRELY ON HIS OWN until Chrysalis has to reassert control over Shining Armor. That's impressive, particularly since we have no idea if such a thing should even be possible. And the only reason Cadence had to amplify Shining Armor's abilities was because by the time he was freed from Chrysalis's control, he was so drained that he couldn't even summon a basic shield spell. In the fight with Sombra, we know how the fight started and the aftereffects of the fight with Shining Armor's horn being covered in black crystals, but we never see the actual fight. Maybe it was an easy win for Sombra or maybe it was an epic battle similar to the Twilight versus Tirek. What we do know is this: Shining Armor wasn't fighting Sombra to defeat Sombra but to make sure that Twilight and her friends could reach the relative safety of the Crystal Empire. Shining Armor was playing the role of a shield, meaning that if he had to take a hit to prevent one of the Mane 6 from getting hurt or worse, he would be doing so. This would put him at a disadvantage since he's not watching one back (his own) but SEVEN in total. Not only did he accomplish that goal, he accomplished it and came back magically injured but ALIVE. Arguably by achieving his goal in the battle and keeping Sombra from harming the Mane 6, Shining Armor DID win that fight all by himself.

Twilight's outburst at Star Tracker was certainly very rude - but her stepping on his hoof felt more like an accident because he came out of nowhere. She could have just apologized, though - said, "I'm sorry, I'm very upset", helped him, and then sorted things out in a peaceful way. Her injuring Star Tracker is forgivable, but her response definitely wasn't. Edit, I heard Firebrand say "Star Chaser" so I changed "Star Tracker" to that but apparently Star Tracker is right. Hmph. I also hate how they get angry at Iron Will. I'm assuming the contract _did_ actually point out the outlines of the cruise - so it was Twilight's parents that ended up being the ones at fault here. The ponies blame Iron Will for something of their doing - and while Twilight's parents are also forgivable, there's no reason to take it out on Iron Will, plus the fact they literally left an entire zeppelin without a captain. As for Cadence's "boundaries", I'm assuming she understands how she wants to be treated, which is great, but she doesn't understand fully how she should treat others. First, the "the Northern Star" part, when Twilight was clearly upset (or was going to be), and second, in Canterlot Wedding, Twilight has a flashback to when Cadence makes two arguing ponies fall in love. My issue with it is that first of all, it's without their consent, and second, they could have been arguing over something important like business. Making them fall in love just because they were arguing without context isn't very responsible, but this isn't touched on very much.

@@jazz-cat00 hey sometimes to get your point across you have to be Rude...is not like anyone was that willing to hear Twilight out anyway they acted over the top and ignored the obvious stressed up Twilight..especially since Twlight way to be stressed is as Obvious as a Nuke!

@@darkwhispersstories47 oh I get you, I agreed her anger was justified indeed, but it was still a large burst of anger to someone who didn't entirely deserve it (not referring to her family tho, get parents got her into this mess in the first place and cadence did what is considered in bird person culture "a dick move") Start tracer did do bad by getting too close and personal with twilight, but I think that in all the star-stricken awkwardness he didn't entirely realize just how cringy he was being and wouldve flusteredly backed off immediately if told and asked... But he wasn't. In twilight's attempt to put on the flawless picture perfect princess role for everyone, she didn't get to put up healthy boundaries for herself. And while yes, her suffering was palpable inn this instance to the point where her family should have noticed it... But they DID notice, but she bit her toung and put a smile on her face to not cause worry to others. And while this is relatable as frick, she still put in the effort to try and not to inconvenience anyone else, and it worked. Now it's probably no excuse to someone who knows her too well, for someone who *doesn't* really know her, only an fanboy's idealized version of her, one who is too busy freaking out over meeting a literal demigodess!? That could go right over his head if twilight wanted, which she did which is why she took everything head on At the moment. Yes, she didn't really have much of a choice on what she could allow or not thanks to Iron Will, but Star Tracer didn't know any of that, as thus didn't fully realize how bad he was being. Twilight knew this and still snapped at him. It was bound to happen eventually and again, her anger _is_ understandable, but it wouldn't make sense to be adamant to someone that you have no problem, and then be surprised when they don't try solving a problem that they were told doesn't exist. I may be wording some things incorrectly here, so sorry if I'm not making too much sense here

They don't get angry at Iron Will solely because of the contract, but because he's forcefully taking all their free time and generally being quite intrusive.

I think that moment with cadence was supposed to be her not realizing that twilight had missed the northern stars and thought she had seen them it definitely should’ve been more clear here But I think I hope that’s what they were going for

Fun as always! I think I need to buy a copy of the last season (Chances are good netflix will never show it) Also, love the DBZA references as always, the military humor, and the Habzin joke. Which is extra funny to me because I've known WAY too many Marines to NOT find that hilariously accurate.

Looney Turtle: How can you walk up to someone in literal tears and talk about the very thing they said to your face, "It'll all be worth it to see this and spend time with you"? Me: *slow awkward hysterical laughter* Ask that question to the people who are my friends. They have done it many times... I wish I felt like I was even a third wheel within all my friendships... instead of the spare tire everyone wants to avoid using cause it's so old and probably rotten. So yeah, I understand Twilight in this episode. Different relationships and situations, but it still hurts.

First of all, I wish I had Twilight's smart and very nice parents instead of the stupid assholes I got. Also, I found it hilarious that Iron Will is actually that Minotaur's real name I would have thought it was just a stage name for his assertiveness seminars, to imagine some crazy parents naming their kid Iron Will is pretty funny.

You know, I didn't want to say anything, but no one seemed to catch that "Flurry Heart" was aware of Twilight's OCD. Take a look at 18:30 and you'll see what I mean. She's not even potty trained and she knows of her Aunt's quirk. Next thing you know, she'll be besting the junior flyers competition at 5 years old. Than again she did have huge power fluctuations that were off the charts when she was just born.
