Hope that somebody will find this comparison useful since I found quite little feedback on direct comparison of Chora 826 and Aria 926 by its users (mostly reviews and comments are based on specs not by live comparison). Thus, I found dealer owning both models of loudspeakers and the same amp that I own. I’ve tested both Chora 826 and Aria 926 connected to Naim Atom. Long story short: I prefer sound of Chora 826 over Aria for loud listening of hard rock / progressive rock / trip hop genre (e.g. Mars Volta, Tool, Massive Attack). Aria seems to perform better with calmer music, especially if you like to listen your music at low/medium volume level - it’s warmer comparing to Chora and have slightly more bass. Aria also has probably better finish materials from how it looks. Where Aria 926 struggle a little bit is bass compartment if you put the volume up in case of prog rock / metal bands like Tool / System of a Down etc. (wobble type of noise). But as said before, it happens only if you listen to your music LOUD. Otherwise, should not be an issue. Chora was playing similar type of music with more clarity, yet since Chora doesn’t have a lot of punch in bass department, I decided to supplement it with REL subwoofer and now it sounds perfect from my music taste. I do not claim Chora 826 it’s better, but fits my preferences better than Aria and I am not taking even price difference into consideration here. It was also surprising for me us I was pretty sure that I will end up with Aria 926 when started my purchasing process. Cheers

Love it, I’d prefer to see the chora 826s vs the aria not the 816s. The 816s dont have quite the bass extension and aren’t a true 3 way design like the 826s and aria shown here. So the 816s have a slightly more compressed sound in term audio in their 2.5 way design because there’s less drivers different crossovers and they are doing more.... but hard to truly hear a difference in this demo through KZbin and hear through a completely different speaker. Overall for me I went and listened the the chora 826s myself at my local hifi shop, and was blown away. They did many many things in terms of imaging far more expensive speakers in other brand couldn’t especially in the imaging and airy-ness . While some of the more expensive speakers had deeper base response the Choras were fantastic for the most part. Anything those slightly lack in terms of bass, I have covered I own 2 large sealed HSU subwoofers.

The Aria has more meat to the bones while the Chora is a bit leaner. It all depends on your taste.

The Choras here are 2.5 way 816 which are less than half the price of the Arias which are 3 way. The 3way Arias sound great, I've heard them during a demo. They have superb smooth detail and clarity. The Choras sound here pretty good considering the differences. Maybe the Chora 826 3 way may be a better comparison?

This might help people looking for opinions on the Chora vs Aria. Ive heard the 806, 826, 906, 906 K2, 926, 936 and 948 in the same room, same time and same equipment. The Aria, whichever model, is a warmer sounding speaker. They are the least Focal sounding speakers, good or bad you decide. The Chora has more pronounced mids, its clear when vocals jump out right at ya, giving a more 3 dimensional presentation. The Aria's vocals are more laidback, more inline with the musicians behind him/her. The 806 has more bass than than the 906, the 826 also has more bass than the 926. People say the Arias have more clarity, I disagree as I feel the opposite, especially in the mids. The Arias are classier looking though. I went with 806 then the 826 and I bought a 906 for another room. My advice is this, only go for the Arias if you want to get the 936 or 948 because the Chora doesnt have a comparable counterpart. If you can live with look of the Choras, its a no brainer. Oh, and they shine with a shit load of power. Drive it with a 2 ohm capable amp that has A LOT of power, Im driving mine with the Crown XLS2502 and they are performing like no other. This is from a person that came from the Wharfedale 12.2, 12.4 and Polk R200, R700.

@@nareshnarasimhan9774 definitely, unless you really like the looks of the Aria and feel its worth double the price. You can get nearly get away without a sub with the 826, it has very detailed and fast low end. Im just used to subs so I cant live without one but Im sure youll be fine. All I can say is this, if these are your first Focals, you be amazed by the clarity and detail retrieval of these speakers. No other conventional speakers below 5000usd, maybe more, have the clarity these speakers produce while retaining a balanced frequency response.

@@AbsoluteFidelity Thank You for the response.Iam likely to audition focals first time.Using a xavian Bonbonus v2 bookshelf.Given that i have about 8feet and iam low volume listener. The local dealer also suggested 906 K2 but i would prefer a floor stander that has a dedicated midrange.

@@nareshnarasimhan9774 coming from the Bonbonus V2, expect something really different from the Focals. Wider soundstage due to the crazy wide dispersion characteristics of the drivers and way more clarity, transparency and detail retrieving capabilities. These Focals are low level listening champs, you still get to hear everything in the recording at very low volumes. Nothing touches the Focals in these aspects. Also be ready to hear vocals jump right out in front of you, the have this quality that make vocals float 3 dimensionally inches away from you.

Not a good comparison. If you are going to compare it needs to be Apple to Apple. So that means you need the Chora 826 not the 816. Not sure what you are trying to accomplish here.

Chora 826 vs Aria 926 is what they should be comparing them both too. I demo both and went with the 826 instead, the aria 926 goes down to 4hz lower then the Chora 826, So no noticable difference in SQ. Of course it also depends on your setup as well. Both the Chora & Aira are great speakers!

for futer videos, i rexomend you edit it song for song, not speaker to speaker. meaning: play a few seconds of a sing on one, then a few seconds of same song on the othere, that back and fortha few time with simmilar sounding parts. then repeat on the next song. after 3 or more songs, I don't remember what the first set sounded like.

I listened to these back to back for a couple hours today. If i didnt hear any other speaker but the chora 826, i would have been in blissful ignorance. It sounds beautiful in its presentation which is fairly neutral. The aria did a better job on natural recordings and had more air, space and authority. It also sounded more natural. Both are exceptional speakers at any price for anyone who wants to hear the whole bit, without any lies.

i like openness on chora more, it sounds more airy, you can easily compansate the missing bass and even get better with a decent sub but that airy sound on chora is impossible to achieve with any adjustments.

Aria sounds better for drums, so double bass will sound nuts on it. I have the 948 and listening to drum solos is so much fun. I listen to Moby dick by Led Zeppelin and its sounds like I'm hearing it in person.

Hi, great vid comparison. Can I ask your advice? I had chora 816 mains and 806 surrounds. I want to use aria cc900 main, do you think this would match and even enhance the setup? Unfortunately I can't fit a chora center in my unit, so it's the aria or a 2nd hand monitor audio gold. Thanks

Aria=Fullness and Fantastic! Chora=hollow, empty, I heard Klipsch 8000f sound better. You can definitely hear the difference even as compressed as KZbin. Separates will definitely show the faults of the speakers.

Да идиоты,Chora 816 специально топят,у меня Chora 826,уже два месяца,сравнивал с Polk audio s60e,Magnat shadow 209,с разными Dali,с Бостон Акустик,с Jamo classic 10...,в итоге купил Chora 826 за эти деньги и чуть дороже не найти такую акустику,полностью кайфую...👍👍👍

Not even close to an apples-to-apples comparison. It would still be a lopsided unfair comparison, but you should have at least compared the Chora 826, not the 816.
