Held up fine on mine too after I put a little more on. Thanks for your feedback.

I have exactly the same fault with a 2 year old Mk4 Focus. Thanks for great Vid.

That's terrible that it's still a problem. You see so many Fords now with the door seal flapping about.

Hi. Thanks for the tip. I've just done this today to three of the doors that needed it. I've had moisture in the car on the carpets and on inside of windows. Hopefully this will have solved it.

Good to know, someone in the comments said they just cut it off, but if you are getting water in the car that seems like a bad idea.

Have this happening on my '18 Focus RS. Just got a quote for driver's side front door from my local dealer - over $400 (USD). Insanity. I told them I can buy a lot of Gorilla Glue for that much money. Service advisor is into cars and has been great to me - he agreed he'd not have the dealership do it either. I hadn't thought about using the tape - thanks for the idea!

$400 is crazy! Especially as it’s a design fault. Glad you got it sorted.

I ripped my weather seals off. No road noise and fixed forever. There’s a seal around frame of body of the car so the ones around door what fall off are pointless imo

Good point 👍

I'm sure ford spent loads of r&d making the design and spending pointless money on parts if it does nothing. It absolutely helps reduce noise in the car and acts as a secondary barrier if you end up in deeper water or heavy rain. For how easy it is to fix I'd just fix it.
@trevorjarvis1933 Жыл бұрын
@@jrewillis it’s a Ford focus not a Toyota Land Cruiser so won’t go in deep water as it would destroy the engine before the seal leaks, and I’ve drive thro bad rain with the seal missing and it’s it dry as a bone. I rest my case for not wasting my time keep sticking them back on 👍🏼

You do realise the strips you removed seal against the door seal. You’ve basically got a door seal doing nothing now 😂😂 What a muppet

I have the exact same issue on the seal on my drivers side door on my 64 plate Ford focus! Which tape would you suggest is better out of the two linked? Is there any other way to fix the seal? Such as glue or is tape best?
@MotoringEvents2 жыл бұрын
Hi, on one side the Gorilla glue held but on the other side it gave out after a month I used it again and has held but I would try the 3m tape so it can run the full length.

@@MotoringEvents I've tried 3M, having cleaned both contact surfaces. It was good for a couple of days, only to see the rubber seals hanging down again, upon opening and closing the doors? How long have Ford been in existence again????????????

It's a silly annoying job you shouldn't have to do, isn't it?

O yer it's down to ford again same as the water in boot problems.

Terrible design. I purchased a Focus ST3 from Trustford about 4 months ago for 17 half grand and the useless gits passed me off when I rang them about my door rubber seal pealing off. They told me to do it myself I might as well save myself some money next time and buy a car and buy of a private seller because Ford dealerships are rubbish
@MotoringEvents Жыл бұрын
That’s appalling, I bet they charge a fortune for a new seal too. So you have to effectively bodge it.
