as someone who gears up like 15 alts (not really hardcore, just playing with friends, not reaching the highest ilvl) you'll be surprised how many times i got invited to go to mythic raiding because i had so much variety that they could just say "we need a shaman, we need a druid, we need a warrior, rogue" and because most of my gameplay was m+ i really did not care about the raid loot, just the progress pretty much, mostly whenever it was a small server and we did not wanted to pug, finding 20 people was hard , that might have also played part of why i was getting invited so much, but still it was more of " we need this" instead of "we need to fill up" kinda situation.

Hekili is a great addon to help you both play alts and get down a new rotation with changes to your main. Many players don’t like to admit to using it, but I have found it extremely useful for playing alts at a higher level and as a trinket/CD reminder in my main. It also helps during times in raids where you get a bit discombobulated after a mechanic and a recommendation on what to use next would be handy.

Crazy good video man! Took me years to realise that playing alts or even other roles helps you as a player alot with understanding the game more! And if you think about it, you can apply it to so many other aspects of your life, like your job for example. The best supervisors are often the ones who started small and went through every aspect of the job to get to where they are now, because they are the ones who understand the problems people have in other areas. Where we are back in WOW where you learn a tank role as a dps and suddenly you realise why tanks do some things you never understood. :D

How do you figure out what you what to main? What class/spec? I main rogue because thats what i have been playing as a kid. But I think i have found out i am not really good at it nor enjoy it. But i still play it, because that is what i have done for years.

I've been an Altaholic since day 1 of playing WoW, but I felt I haven't had a "main" since... 2012? 2013? Whenever I last played with friends. Nowadays I have no IRL friends who play WoW and no online friends who play WoW, which makes it very, VERY hard for me to feel devoted to a "main". If I had a solid guild or group of friends, I could see devoting time and energy to a "main" more easily. If I'm the tank or DPS or whatever, I can focus that role, which is at least more of a focus than now, where I just... play whatever. I would love to HAVE a main, it's just tough. I have characters I could potentially see myself getting attached to. Classes I love, specs I love, but without any sort of secondary "need", I personally struggle with that. And I totally get that many people are just fine being solo and don't need that sort of secondary push, it's just an issue I personally have had for a long time with WoW and MMOs in general.

I usually pick one of every Armor type per expansion so I can collect all the Mogs. I always end up playing one the most and call that my "Main". And then, in the last patch or sometimes the pre-patch for the next expansion, I level the rest of the toons that interest me for a little change in playstyle. Keeps me engaged in the game without burning me out on my "Main".

with the change of needing to do 90 TIMED KEYS in order to max out your Myth Gear, which as a reminder is 2x what Dragonflight demanded, i was gonna play several Alts seriously, but now i will be getting Champion Warbound Gear for my Alts as my Main (Ret Pally) pushes for max gear, even though it is unlikely i will have the time to time 90 f***ing keys in a season, since i also have to play the market to make Gold to pay my Sub every month. so thanks Blizz for making my goals infinitely difficult because you have no faith in your game being fun enough to keep people playing.

I think it’s important to mention that a lot of fun can be had in the game through group content and mass coordination, as you know, and like you said if you jump from alt to alt you get left behind or your guild feels like they geared you for no reason. So the argument that sticking to a main is solely for the purpose of being responsible isn’t entirely accurate. Personally, some of the most fun I’ve had is progressing with a guild and creating memories. I’m also a self diagnosed altoholic so I struggle with this issue quite a bit. I think they are both a means to an end with the end goal being fun! They are just different types of fun. The problem is you can’t have your cake and eat it too. If you want to try out every class and spec you sacrifice some group content end game progression and the opposite is true as well. Of course if you have all the time in the world I’m sure it’s possible to do both and given that blizz is starting to streamline progression by account - this problem could be lessened. Time will tell. For the record I have no clue what I’m going to main or alt so I’m a mess right now😅. Love your content! Take care!

I'm 100% expanding my roles in TWW. I've been an Enhancement Shammy through all of Dragonflight, with trying other classes here and there, and as I continue to main it I'm going to try Prot Warrior and maybe even Holy Paladin. Essentially having the ability to play whatever my Guild needs, I think, will be super useful.

I love wow! It really trips me out that just playing a different spec or class can change the game entirely. It's almost like looking at it through a new set of lenses. My biggest problem lately is I feel like I am obligated to main a Warrior, because I was able to get the Tusks or Mannoroth. While that is one of the best transmog pieces ever, it doesn't go with any other classes or even races for that matter (Tauren and Orc). Warrior can be a bit bland for me sometimes, especially because I play prot. However if I'm not rocking those Tusks I feel like I am wasting all that I worked so damn hard for. I love Rogues, I've usually always been a rogue in most games. I've always thought hunter would be cool and take the MM route because I want mine to be like a ranger/ archer. Demon Hunter is cool and I actually might go that route cause I atleast have the a Xavius shoulders which would make me feel better. Do you guys know what I mean?

As someone who doesn't do group content (outside of open world weeklies that take a less than 5 minutes) I need alts to have things to do! In early seasons I take one toon as far as I can and switch to another. By the later seasons I switch to working on multiple toons per week vs doing multiple weeks per toon.

I've always been an alcoholic at heart (even during vanilla) but I started to feel the social pressure in WOD due to the ring power accrual. I hated it but thing got even (mich) worse in Legion and beyond. I was crushed because I was used to main a toon to raid only and then quest away on alts to my heart's content. I hope TWW can fix most of the issues still remaining (key reputations etc.).

Transmog is forever, but time is finite. It really depends on what your goals are in the game. For a collector, the alt army is great. For someone that wants to push, you gotta limit the number of characters you work on or get more efficient about what you do while logged in.

Altaholic, pretty much the only two classes where i don't have at least one char at 70 at are monk and evoker. Sometimes i just wana do relaxing content and create an alt and chromie time to TBC to run TBC dungeons. Sometimes i see someone with a cool af transmog and I create a char with that class because of it. Though i have three "mains" where i play m+ enough to get whatever the season title is (not the 0.1% title but the title you get when you have all keys at 15 (now at 5)).

i rather play multiple classes (i play all tanks for example), priest and shaman healer, warlocks and hunter. and its way more fun to gear them up and play them around 2,8-3k rating (beside my main, which is higher). also u learn alot of stuff in dungeons (also classes) which helps, when u play different classes/specs. most tanks dont know where a hard grp burst or dot/debuffs are thrown out (for example)
