interesting video.. We have a 2015 Ford Focus manual transmission that's stuck in third gear and the stick shift moves freely. At first it looks like it could be a cable issue but it doesn't appear to be the case. I guess the only other thing it could be is an issue with the synchronizer?

hey, that could be a broken shift fork, or the cable lever may be stripped out on the shift tower

Yup, fix one thing and something else pops up. Sounds just about right 🤦🏻‍♂️ haha still having a “clunk” when stopping and locked steering wheel when accelerating while taking a turn.

If you have a clunk when stopping it’s the cv axel for the driver side

Hey, thanks. I pulled the wheels off and used duplicolor wheel paint. Just cleaned, rubbed scrotchbrite, wiped with acetone and sprayed. No clear or primer

@@randalcalvert270 Nope! Left the tires on. I used index cards tucked into the beads to prevent overspray on the tires. I Didn't have to rebalance them after, either. Because I painted the wheel weights, too 🤪 lol easy enough to touch up later since I didn't clearcoat or prime. And the paint has been holding up excellent the past couple years

interesting clunk noise. Mine is now making this clunk noise whenever i touch the brakes, very apparent when moving forwards in first gear and the moment i tap the brakes i hear a clunk. Sometimes when coasting to a stop it happens and it can happen mid braking. I wonder if it has to do with the gears or clutch resetting to 1st gear.

Oh wow, I'd have to hear it. I've got a Facebook group you can post a video on. The noise in my video you may be referring to was a truck next to me when I wad slowing to a complete stop

When is ford recalling the 2018's? Why haven't they yet? Rhetorical... Probably couldn't tell me if you knew either way. Love the channel, you make videos entertaining and informative.

I'm glad you're enjoying the content! Ford hasn't come out with an extended tcm coverage for 2017 or 2018 because those have the newer design tcms installed from the factory. And as far as the clutch warranty, it is unsure why they haven't extended the warranty on those for the 17s and 18s

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles I've gone through two clutches... in under 50k miles. I like to go fast but also have select shift and don't over rev among other things to help extend the life. Thanks for the quick response.

Hey did you fill the transmission through the vent opening? Just wondering if that won't affect it later on

Yes I did. I've been doing it that way for years on hundreds of these without issue

I have this exact same sound when I press on the brake to slow the car down, but when I drive it go as normal even when I let it slow down by itself without using the brakes. Any idea ?

when you slow down, the tcm will pre-select a lower gear, so if one of your synchronizers are grinding you'll hear it when slowing down
