@@rookiemvp2008 I normally use an air ratchet, like in the video. But if they're very tight for some reason, you can get a mid-torque impact up in there to bust them loose. @@BigBensCarsAndCycles Ok one last question, my LUK replacement clutch and forks didn't come with a packet of grease to apply to them. @@rookiemvp2008 It's OK. Anyway, I just noticed your last message now. I may have answered your question on another post already. But yeah, I think spline grease would be great. I don’t know if you have ever watched his videos but they are pretty awesome too. I also watched another video where the guy took the intake manifold off and that’s what I did. It really does help get to starter and flywheel nuts. The valves on these cars get pretty nasty and if you don’t have a code already for air/fuel ratio imbalance, you will eventually. Love your videos and need some advice. I have been looking for a Focus for my daughter and found a clean one owner one with 50k. He just had the TCM changed at the dealer but it’s slipping pretty bad in first still. I have a lift so it does not seem like a bad repair for clutches but what the dealer said when I called and the owner said are not the same. Owner said tech said it needed to be driven a few hundred miles for the TCM to learn and that should fix slip. When I called service advisor he said it’s just going to get worse and they recommended the clutch change as shown on the receipt the owner provided up front. I’m hoping they did an adaptive learn but not sure. I forscanned the car and it has no codes and only expected stuff stored. Guess what I am asking is if I buy it should I just plan on doing the clutch, forks and bearing or would an adaptive learn or some other trick fix this. Probably making offer based on full rebuild but want to see you thoughts and what I’m getting into.

Hi, glad to help. Generally the clutches don't wear down from what I've seen. They do develop heat spots on the pressure plate and shudder. Since your fork was sticking, it may have heated the clutch up and caused hot spots. You can try resetting the clutch (locking it) and blowing all the dust out with a strong leaf blower or shop air. You'll probably have some shudder but you can get some more life out of it I bet.
