Much as I love Sir David,,,, Joey gives the commentary an Extra "Something!" That inspires a lot more people!! Including my husband,,,, Mr Dingbatt, who I've been trying to get into Botanicals and Geology for Over 34years!! Without any success, even watching David Attenborough with me!! After He watches,, ~ "Crime Pays but Botany Doesn't " ONCE!! And it's becoming one of the Only Natural History Channels he's got on his KZbin library..... ~Now he's quoting Latin Names at me!! Bracts, Ovaries, Trichomes.. Right down to Mycorrhizae and the relationships going on with Everything!! I was asking myself should I be upset?! Nah~It's Awesome!! (They say Miracles are Dead?!) Damnit!! Sorry,,,, ~I didn't mean to get all starry eyed,,,, and Go On at People!!

For 27 years I lived in San Francisco near Ocean Beach and then up the hill from the botanical garden . It’s difficult for non-residents to really get what the climate is like, especially ‘summer’. Chilly, wind whipped dense fog, either at ground level or at about 800 feet all day, day after day. SF can experience a whole week in mid-summer with the temperatures never exceeding 50f something. Luckily I love cool, cloudy weather. I had to leave a few years ago due to how obscenely expensive it got. It used to be a great town with an eclectic mix of people. No more.

Thanks for exploring my country. I found you because of the Chicago accent. A Chilean natural myself who lived in the Humboldt Park area and in Willmette for a couple of years. It's always refreshing getting to hear the accent I got my English from... If you ever come to Patagonia you'll be astonished of the flora down here. Youll get to see wild strawberries, fancy varieties of potatoes, Gaultheria mucronata, and the trees, man... wow! Fitzroya cupressoides, Araucaria araucana (monkey puzzles, typically pictured in dinosaur books and shit). If you EVER come here, you'll have a home where to stay, man! Again, I'm really happy to hear you talk about these wonders... in the accent I learned my English from! Hugs from Villarrica and keep up the good work!

For plants covered in flour-like white powder the technical term is “farina” eg primula “farinacea”. I think I learned it on this channel. If the white layer is more waxy I’d say “pruina” is a better fit. From Wikipedia: The term pruinosity is also applied for "blooms" on plants, for example on the skin of grapes and also to powderings on the cap and stem of mushrooms, which can be important for identification. It may also be called a pruina (plural: pruinae), using the Latin word which gave rise to the various English terms.
