Russia is constantly attacking Ukraine's defences, and by war rules the attacking side takes more casualties. Also considering that russia uses a lot of people from poorer regions as cannon fodder without proper trainings, it doesn't paint a good picture in casualty ratio (not a new thing, such cannon fodder tactic was present in russian empire and USSR) They have been trying to breakthough Ukrainian defence lines on Avdiivka all this year and the results are very minor. Russians in Avdiivka alone lost already more than 40k in failed attacks attacks.

I'm not arguing against your sentiment or whether those wars were worth the sacrifice or not but actually we did much better in those wars than pop culture remembers. In Korea we were winning most of the war and only caused a draw after China invested huge casualties. We still saved democracy for the majority of the population and allowed them to become one of the most thriving societies in the world (in contrast to the starving dehumanizing north with no power). In Vietnam our military actually decimated the Viet Cong and were destroying the NVA when we left prematurely because we lost the will to fight. Nixons generals strategy was working perfectly and we had negotiated a peace with the North but they violated the terms as we left. We could have stayed longer to enforce and complete the peace but the civilian population was weary of the war (partially because of media manipulation and counterculture influences).

So it's not the big numbers you need to look at.
