Awesome, enjoying watching this build, I've built two foil boards and it's great to see how others go about it

Aloha thanks for watching. Best would be to ask your local surfboard shaper or google "eps foam supplier".

Hi what brand of spray adhesive do you use for fibreglass cloth? thanks

Sorry I don’t remember. I think he used a 3M product from what I remember seeing on the spary can

Appears to be 3M 77 spray adhesive

How do you mask the foil tracks and handle so the don’t get epoxy in there?
@StandUpMagazin3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question. He uses very little resin, so the foil box does not have to be masked. There is just enough resin to bond to the foam but not to saturate it. Once everything is cured he will router out the foil boxes.

How did you correctly locate the tracks and cut them out after the carbon had dried?
@StandUpMagazin2 жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for watching and the question. We kind of missed that part. Steve was routing out the carbon but I honestly for got how he marked it. I think you can find the tracks by just feeling it with your fingers.
@scotty90792 жыл бұрын
@@StandUpMagazin yeah, i can imagine it will be slightly obvious where they are, but a bit of good guess work might need to come into play. Really appreciate the reply!

How strong is the vacuum?
@StandUpMagazin3 жыл бұрын
This is actually a very good question. Never thought of it, evidently I can't be too strong. I don't know with how many PSI he is working. Will bring that up next time.
@StandUpMagazin3 жыл бұрын
So I just asked its about 2.45PSI
@christophemeletiou90783 жыл бұрын
@@StandUpMagazin There is something wrong. The number has to be negative and if it was -2.45 PSI it's insignificant.
@StandUpMagazin3 жыл бұрын
@@christophemeletiou9078 right negative makes sense. I did ask Steve and this is the number he gave me. It’s low for sure but you can’t squeeze the living …. Out of it either… so not sure honestly.
@heavyweather3 жыл бұрын
@@christophemeletiou9078 I believe more vacuum will starve the carbon especially when your using that little resin. With prepreg you could go 80%+
@martychomik28782 жыл бұрын
How is it that carbon doesn't bond to plastic. The bond to plastic with epoxy is mechanical, so there is no difference between sglass and carbon-either way its the epoxy that is bonding to the plastic.
