As a beginner teaching myself, I'm glad you have not used shortcuts everywhere - because I don't remember them! As I get better, then I'll try and use them, but to begin with it's really handy having learning videos like this explained step by step.. Thanks very much for your time and tutorials!

One thing you'll learn with time is Photoshop is full of choices. There is no right or wrong way, if you end up at where you want to be. For example you could have said CTRL+J will duplicate the active layer and CTRL+D will deselect. So why don't I use those in my videos? Because I choose not to.

Can you reverse the way in which the image appears by having the center panel brought to the background and the 2 wings of the folded paper brought to the forground? Then the 2 outside panels would look as if they will fold up and over to the center as opposed to being flipped backwards behind the center panel? Would simply reverse the colors of white and black to accomplish this? The Meltdownman

How do i make the vertical lines that represent the place where the map is folded (1/3 and 2/3 of pic) a little faded in or something so its not so obvious?

hey im trying to do something similar to this with cs4. i don't know what version you used in this tutorial, but when I add the spherize filter it gives me a completely different effect. When you play with the amount it gives a curve to the edge of the map and makes it look more 3d and realistic. When I add the effect, it just bubbles out the center of the selection and doesn't give me that rounded edge that you get. My edges stay exactly the same, it just adds a fisheye like bubble. any advice?

good job as always. I can't stop to think that it might have looked better had you used black to transparent for all three panels, instead of the white to transparent for the middle one. nevertheless nicely done!

@Robbinski14 - OMG do you really ask questions like that? do you really think everyone should use Photoshop the way you do? btw, some people are old school Photoshop pros and like the non shortcut way of doing things. For the purpose of tutorials it's always best to show the non-shortcut way of doing things so that novices can remember where things are in the menu pallete.
