Can you recommend a specific glue? I had a horrible time today trying to use what I thought was a high quality glue?

The best glue to use is an express PVA wood glue. The one we use here is Ponal 44523 Express Wood Glue, White. The white part means it dries to a clear matt finish almost invisible around the edge of the trays. There are many alternatives available though. It's best to avoid waterproof versions as there are more brittle when dry compared to others.

Thanks for this video. I've just purchased some of your board game inserts and really looking forward to smartening up my games. Maybe it's just me but lockdown has led to this weird obsession with storage solutions! :) Can I use any cheap PVA glue from a craft shop or should we only use specific wood glues like Ponal 44523 Express Wood Glue that was recommended earlier in the comments? Yes, it is a nice activity during the current restrictions. Thank you for your purchase of our products :) Any PVA glue will do, however assembly will be easier with an express wood glue such as the Ponal one (though there are many brands). This kind of glue gives a super strong bond, but also dries quickly making building the trays easier. It's also advisable to use a white PVA glue as some wood glues come in a brown/beige colour which can leave a mark after drying.

I used silicone glue to glue the pieces. It's too weaker? It will break in time? Just PVA shoud be used witht FS inserts or silicone glue is fine too and will last in time nicely?

People use many different glues, even super glue works well. We recommend PVA wood glue, an express version which dries quicker is generally easiest. I am not sure what you mean though by silicon glue - do you mean glue used in a hot glue gun?

Nice and concise instructions, the only part I found irksome was the part where the excess glue was wiped off directly with your fingers (please use a tissue paper or something else to wipe off excess glue to not get it on your fingers next time).

How do you get rid of the excess glue squished out from under the connections?

Good question. It's best to not apply too much glue, as even a thin layer will give a strong bond. But if there is some excess you either wipe it off with a finger and then onto a damp cloth, or directly with the cloth. The material is fine for such treatment

Which side should I put inside ? Smooth or plain ?

I am not sure if follow you - our material is the same on both sides. Due to the cutting method for the sheets there is a very slight rounding on the edges of the tray pieces on one side, and I generally prefer to put that side facing inside the tray. However, this really makes very little difference.

Hot glue could work, but I think it would not be ideal. Hot glue might be slightly too thick when it dries leading to the trays not looking as good as they could. You will find PVA white glue will work better. Any such white glue will work, but we recommend using an express wood glue as these give a very strong bond and dry quickly making assembly easier.

Elmers gives a very strong bond, and works well for assembly. However, the wood glue version of Elmers when dry has a slightly brown/yellow tinge, which can show around the edges of the trays. So it is better to choose a white version as this will look better when dry.

Some people do use super glue, and like the results. Here we find PVA white glue much easier to work with, and also when dry are slightly flexible which works well with our material.
