An essay on stains. I went through a whole thing trying to get stains out of my wood floors that I was restoring. There are a range of enzymes for removing different stains. Protease - degrades protein-based soils Amylase - degrades starch-based or carbohydrate soils Cellulase - breaks down cotton fibres to release soils Lipase - degrades fat-based soils Mannanase - degrades food-based stains Pectinase - degrades fruit-based stains Different brands of pre soaker have different amounts on different enzymes. If your brand isn't working try another. I've heard Tide's pre-soaker is pretty heavy duty. Also on the label they usually underestimate the time required. I leave things soaking over night if I can. If all this fails, bleach. Dilute it 1 part bleach to 4 parts water. Soak for 5 to 10 minutes then check. If it needs more, give it more. If you're a daredevil dunk your stuff in pure bleach and hope for the best. Don't leave it in there too long or you'll dissolve your clothes. Wear gloves. Also if the stain is a synthetic oil, like motor oil, your screwed. Good luck! :D

@@tessaviolet Sort out your laundry before washing. Whites with whites, blacks with blacks, light colours with light colours, dark colours with dark colours. Also you ought to separate stuff that needs to be washed on higher temperature (dish towels, towels), low temperature (wool, lacey stuff, bras) and medium temperature (the rest). Of course, it doesn't make much sense to make eight piles of laundry if you're starting out with a small volume. Compromises can be made, but sorting out your laundry will certainly help the whites stay white. Using a special detergent for white fabric helps a bit, but sorting out is way more important. Bleach will help making grey laundry somewhat white again, but it also damages the fabric. Also read the instructions on the detergent packaging so you use the correct amount of detergent. Too much detergent isn't great for the environment, too little detergent is even worse (because your clothes will smell, making you wash them more often). Your clothes go fuzzy because they rub against each other in the washing machine. This causes the top layer of fibres to break and the ends to stick out, causing that fuzziness. So make sure you turn your clothes inside out before washing.
@evercuriousmichelle
@evercuriousmichelle 4 жыл бұрын
I've given up and banned all white from my wardrobe, it's much easier that way! Then I can just do two laundry piles--the ones that go in the dryer and the ones that don't. It's simple!

I still say that some days when I'm off work I feel this void of loneliness and almost worthlessness. There is so much pressure on us to always be productive it almost feels that when we relax we are in a way failing ourselves, but trust me if you don't have that lonely down time deep in your thoughts from time to time then you'll never be able to stay in touch with your true self. Cry it out, you deserve a good cry to clear that overwhelming exhaustion on your shoulders.

That black shirt will never be as perfect as the day you bought it but will last you a decade + with some care. Not sure how I got here but Tessa, your hair is awesome.
