Clickbait Title: Odds Are You'll Probably Never See The Snyder Cut of Justice League
I do talk about the recent rumours with HBO Max, but it's not until the end of the video, so it's basically a guarantee that the comments are going to be full of commenters telling me I didn't talk about things that I definitely did talk about. I know mocking knee-jerk comments in the description is pretty hack, but knee-jerk comments are also pretty hack, so a hack for a hack I guess.

Another thing at 13:58 - Fox has released the Assembly Cut of Alien 3 on Blu-Ray and DVD, which is to Alien 3 what the Snyder Cut is to Justice League: a workprint version from before the original director was removed from the project. However, the film industry of 2019 is very different from the film industry of 2003 when the cut was first released to the public, and even that version was only released 11 years after the film's theatrical debut.

The only thing Dan was wrong about was the cost of completing the Snyder Cut. He estimated $30 million, and finishing the Snyder Cut cost almost twice that.
@DaMaster012
@DaMaster012 5 ай бұрын
You *also* got it wrong; Hack Snyder was given/spent an additional *$70 million* to finish _Hack Snyder's Justice League: The Hack Snyder Cut (A Film by Hack Snyder),_ so it cost OVER twice as much as Dan's initial estimate. ... And the added special effects STILL look just as atrocious as Superman's upper lip in Josstice League. And Steppanwolf's new design was so over complicated and eye-gougingly edgy that you could have convinced me that Fennah made it.

Yep; he got it all correct, right down to exactly what would be wrong with the Snyder Cut: fundamental problems with storytelling, the problematic core plot being unchanged, extreme bloat and overstuffing of cameos and setups for later movies, clear signs that it wasn't done being edited down, lack of focus, overly-long runtime, the movie being pointlessly grim, etc.

@@matthewmuir8884 It’s interesting seeing the, weird responses to the cut. I’ve seen few amounts of negativity other than it being way too long. Also I wouldn’t say the core plot is unchanged, the ending is vastly different from the theatrical cut, and more characters, especially Cyborg is fleshed out. I honestly even think out of any Snyder movie, it’s his most hopeful, it’s no where as grim as the previous ones. I think Cosmonaut put the nail on the coffin about it imo, if you don’t like Snyder’s filmaking at all you’re not gonna like it. Personally I really enjoyed the movie, and I felt it was at least an improvement, plus I’m glad he got to see his vision through, good or bad. This isn’t me invalidating your opinion or anything, just interesting to note

The closest I’ve seen to releasing a whole raw movie is Robert Rodriguez released a bonus feature of Sin City with all the effects removed. They released it sped up and with no sound but it was really cool to see the raw footage. He did it as a way of showing how to shoot a movie relatively cheap with green screen and it was really cool.

He also basically shot two different versions of Planet Terror. The boy in that movie was played by his son. One version of the film shows the boy surviving to the end, and another, the theatrical cut that we got, was the version where he died. Rodriguez said in the director's commentary that when he breaks the news to his son that there is no Santa Claus, "oh, by the way, you also died in Planet Terror."

It’s an animated movie but I recall there being a work print version of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast turning up as a bonus feature on either the blu ray or DVD, which had come from an early edit of the film that had been screened for animation industry folk and some critics prior to the movie’s proper release. It would sort of jump between storyboards, rough animation and a few finished sequences throughout its runtime. I think there were also some unfinished vfx work and perhaps some temp voices for certain characters as part of the edit as well.

Kevin B Back when Warner released the Final Cut of Blade Runner, they released a tin box set that featured 5 different cuts of the film, including the work print. In that case because the movie released in 1982 when most effects were shot practically, it didn’t really look any different to what was released cinematically, just a little rougher.

Maybe some dialouge, if we're lukcy maybe some greenscreen faces of minor actors. However the assembly cut/snydercut did have most of its footage in camera shot, simply as raw footage, and was edited to what would become the directors cut before the studio edit and before it would be proper worked on by vfx artists. Uh no, buddy. Dan Olson is nothing but a snooty, obnoxious hipster with disgusting taste and is nothing but a pure hypocrite. For example, he claims he is against racism and points at the right for being racist but he himself does nothing when Hollywood practices racism like with all of their whitewash casting as he has ignored it again and again. His taste in movies is horrible and very AngloSaxon. For example, like many hipster morons in movie blogs Dan believe that fantasy related action films like superhero movies or movies like Assassin Creed should be all comedies even though the source material actually took themselves seriously. This entire anti Zack Synder video here was nothing but him talking out of his own behind. He is so arrogant that he actually thought he was right when he reality he had no idea what he was talking about. What Dan should do is stick to masturbating to Wes Anderson's horrible movies and keep out of general movie discussions because he doesn't really know what he is talking about.

That being said, crunch time is a thing, even with as difficult as tge animation process is, and I personally don't think the theory is true, especially considering how much of a budget and team a production of such a popular IP would have to speed up and streamline the process.

Also the budget for movies only report the production budget, excluding the marketing, and the box office revenue does not include the cut of revenue taken by theaters and international distribution companies. A blockbuster movie typically needs to make 2-3 times the budget in order to actually make money for the producers (primarily streaming / home release and indie films with limited release can make money with a smaller multiplier on the budget).

The folk commenting that the "cut exists" didn't watch the video. This video is basically saying that a draft existed, that some overbloated mess of a movie without special effects existed, but was not translated into a final cut. The "snyder cut" of a film didn't exist, and the "snyder cut" of justice league as so many Snyder stans envisioned it didn't exist. Y'all are saying "AHAH, NOW THEY WANT TO MAKE ONE!!!" and treating it as a rebuttal. No. The "cut" that existed was like a beta-reader's first draft, an unedited mess of bullshit that vaguely resembled the finished product, if that. When people were declaring the "SNYDER CUT EXISTS" they didn't mean a 4-5 hour mess with no CGI, they meant a movie. There was no "snyder cut" movie, just drafts and possibilities. Whoever runs the streaming shit didn't fucking "release" a snyder cut, they're making one. It didn't exist, and it also did. This video is about the film-making process, your movie that you insist on stanning for a director and universe that simply don't deserve it, did not exist in a watchable form. It was not a movie, it was a compilation of clips to be made into a proper movie. Jesus, people watch a video to the end before your tribalistic adoration of a film takes over.

It didn't predict anything. This video is mostly Dan collecting new items while being a petty little creep by sliding in his contempt for Zack Synder. Dan Olson is an insufferable hipster with horrendous taste and disgusting cynicism. Not to mention hypocrite by acting like he is against racism but when it comes to POC characters getting whitewashed he downplays it (Eathsea), ignores it (The Last Airbender) or flat out says he doesn't care (Netflix's Deathnote). And this anti-Synder video he did was just pandering to his audience of subhuman hipsters who think anything that isn't a pretentious bore of a movie needs to always be a comedy. He wishes all fantasy based action films would be like Marvel Studio's horrible movies that go against their own source material by filling the movies with so many jokes they are on the verge of parody. According to him no superhero comic book even if it took itself seriously in the source material should ever be adapted accurately (i.e. with a serious tone) because nerdy hipsters like Danny need to do the nerdy chuckle all the time. So Danny boy here ignores people who literally worked on Synder's Justice League who have directly responded to comments from people like him who have claimed otherwise about the Synder Cut (e.g. Jay Oliva, Junkie XL) so that he can push his hipster hatred of Zack Synder. That includes his condescending tone throughout like referring to comments from Synder supporters as "conspiracy theories" and "wishful thinking", making sure to call the social media Synder communicates on, Vero, as "twitter but empty, claiming the Synder Cut isn't any better than the Joss Whedon Cut, etc... That people are so up in arms about an attack that for all I can see never took place, really encapsulates the self indulgent arrogance and unjustified vitriol against almost anything Snyder of the people who usually criticise him. Sure, you might find people who have a measured opinion but those are not within the crowd of the people who are outwardly critical that's for sure, and who, as might be expected, have been attracted by this video. Why are people so hell bent on either loving or hating Snyder or deciding what he is or isn't? I don't see that for any other directors, idk, maybe it speaks for Snyder being willing to be "controversial" in the literal meaning of the word not what is usually associated with it... I can't see Snyder paying for this. From his perspective, it's kind of silly to do so - As long as his cut is never released, he can forever be the hero of this story. The moment anything with his name on it drops, he's just another page in a scrapbook titled "DC Dumpster Fire #3." I find it more believable (If this does happen) that Warner gave him a paycheck fat enough for him to swallow his pride and scramble existing footage into something that can be released with his name on it. I guess that makes me a pessimist.

If u new what kind of filmmaker Snyder is, he has too much of a movie pureist to simply take some money and leave a project and pretendingit never happned. In that way hes similar to somone like tarantino, if somone would cut or fuck up his movie he would fight big battle to keep it the way he want it. For people like this its never about the money but about the art of filmmaking themselves And dont missunderstand me, I am not comparing snyder and Tarantinos movies or skill, I am just describing the filmmaking type of person they are, as in dedication and love for the craft

Listen, I don’t think Snyder can tell a story from the broad side of a barn, but the man has never struck me as the kind of person to make political moves with regards to releasing or withholding his work. If he thinks he can get his movie out there, he’s gonna take the shot. He sees himself as a visionary and an artist and, while I don’t think he has the real narrative chops to back it up, I respect his integrity enough to know he’d never just sit on his hands and let his work go unseen just for clout. He gives a shit. Like, _really_ gives a shit. And I’ll back him up on that forever.

@@CabezasDePescado Just look at the fan reaction. A lot of DC fans have this crazy unrealistic expectation that the Snyder cut is going to be this amazing masterpiece of cinema and some of those people honestly probably would prefer it just for having his name on it, but all that good will would absolutely go away if the cut came out and was notably terrible. You can look at a released film, point out its problems, and show exactly how it's bad. But if it's not even a product you can see then you can project whatever expectations on it that you want and be just as right as anybody else because how would anyone ever even prove you wrong, right?

I enjoyed it quite a lot, honestly. The only other Snack Snyder movie I've seen was 300, which I laughed at from start to finish for all the wrong reasons, but JL was good. I've wondered if he didn't look at Josstice League and basically manage his own cut as a hybrid of his vision and a hypothetical Josstice League ver 1.1, since from what I've heard about the DCEU movies he directed it certainly seems like ZSJL took influence from JWJL. If I watched my big project get twisted and then crash and burn and I wanted to be petty about how much cooler my ideas were, I'd have no problem taking things from the release version and working them out with the extra time and feedback for my own purposes, especially in a context where I could credibly pass it off as that stuff being how I had done it before someone else mucked it up. That said, there is definitely such a thing as "too much creative freedom" in a large project like this. It's rarer than the inverse, but there are absolutely movies which are much better because maverick directors and writers had bad ideas which got reigned in by studio execs who could tell things were going wrong. Not just "they were made more palatable for a mass audience", but "we saw the director's cut and it was worse by every metric compared to the theatrical cut" . No amount of resources can fix someone being a dumbass, sometimes you need saner minds to come in and clean things up. But directors are big names and they aren't going to admit that their newest masterpiece couldn't have happened without the valuable input of a bunch of crusty old suits.

I really love how Dan phrases why it's conceptually unideal for a studio to put money and effort into formally releasing cut content. if it's bad, well that's just wasted money and effort in bothering to rerelease it. if it's good, then they look dumb for cutting it in the first place and are publicly exposing themselves having made a big mistake, and their big mistake is responsible for the og movies failure. if they're right for cutting it, they were wrong for releasing the cut. if they're wrong for cutting it, they were wrong for cutting it. it's a lose lose. and fanboys just have no idea how actual filmmaking works, and imagine that the reality of making art is just THAT simple. very satisfying in how Dan proved that everyone is wrong about the Snyder cut, and it could only be released by only one condition, and that's exactly what happened. any fanboy who bothers commenting on this video that Dan was wrong for dare having called them wrong is just childish, further proving Dan right.
