Manu Prakash is a phenomenal man; the ultimate scientist. I would hope the Nobel Committee will recognize him for any number of its' prizes.

He looks like that brilliant scientist Reed Richards from Marvels Fantastic Four comics. This guy changed the world. He revolutionized the way students learn biology. I recently got my Foldscope and I am so happy with it especially when I put my phone camera on the lens.

you are not the intended buyer, the people who have real necessities might not even have an internet connection. So the extra money you spend is actually going to make it a tad bit cheaper for them, I hope this helped resolve your queries.

You claim your foldscope is 50 cents and now $1 dollar but your website wants $30 dollars for just one. You are greedy liars!
@rayr14447 жыл бұрын
If it costs less than a dollar, why are they only sold in a kit for $35 plus handling and shipping to the general public? Because someone us trying to get rich off of the common man, as with everything. I understand the concept if free enterprise, but I also know a thief when I see one. Don't buy this. Make one yourself. There are plans on the internet or a savvy person can just duplicate it on his own for a few bucks.

Ray R I guess u r R8 coz it would be far better if he told us how to make this at home!....or at least teach us the mechanism behind making this instrument 😅😩

Dear Ray, Thanks for your comment. If you would take the time to look closely at the website www.foldscope.com; the site offers individual Foldscope at a price of $1.75 (20 Foldscope for $35). This is the basic classroom kit. To actually sustain and support the effort to globally make Foldscope available to communities world wide (we have shipped 80,000 foldscope to communities in 130 countries, at no cost to individuals - shipping or otherwise). The purpose of deluxe kits is to enable field scientists to do even more with these tools (deluxe kits include cell separation tools, microfluidics, and dark field and phase contrast modules). That allows us to bring the costs of classrooms kits down to $1.75 in large scale. Off course, you have a choice to either support this mission or not. We publish all the work in publicly available websites (PLOS One and Arrive) which has all the details of building these instruments on your own. I only wish that you look at details and try to engage with the community. Be a mentor to someone - share your passion of science with someone and help bring science to people who don't have access to it. See our Foldscope community at microcosmos.foldscope.com. Best wishes. Manu
