Foley: Grade inflation ensured "equity" during Covid

Some Irish colleges now offer high-points courses to students on a random basis, partly due to grade inflation.
Asked if this was fair, Norma Foley said students who miss out on their dream course can pursue "other avenues", and that grade inflation ensured "equity" amid Covid.

Every child gets top marks and then most get v.v. disappointed in later years as they realise their grade and even their useless degree in Media Studies etc does not lead to £80 salary as employers then need to sift the wheat from the chaff. (something the education system should have done). Burger flipping or making babies for a living is their only choice then.

Thank God, I received my education in Ireland when it was REALLY top notch education without grade inflation. Those were the days. The dumbing down has been going on for a long time here in the US. From the sounds of it, it has been happening over there for some time too. Grade inflation doesn't help the student. When s/he finally gets into a competitive situation either in university (though dumbing down occurs there too) or in the work place, s/he won't be able to handle the fact that s/he is ill-prepared.

Stop going to University Large companies like Google no longer want University graduates they say they know nothing They have to train them teach them to think outside the box and develop their skills. Do not get on debt unless you absolutely need a degree. But look for on the job with development goals included which may include a several hours a week at a university and get paid The only way to go . Good luck 💕💕💕

My gf lived through Communist Romania. Trust me, and more importantly, trust those who lived it already, socialist utopias quickly turn into tyrannical hell, at lesst in Europes history. Gadaffi objectively transformed Libya for vastly better society so you can have an exception. Romania also benefitted under communist regime, public infrastructure was rapid, ubiquitous and on a large scale. Everyone was fed, everyone had a home.
